What can I say, it's the beach! It was nice that because it's a state beach (we were actually at Cardiff State Beach just down the road, but didn't see an entry), there are lifeguards stationed. There were also some accessible tide pool areas just...More

Parking is scarce on a weekend but during the week there is often parking on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH), a pay lot or east side of PCH. I often park in the lot on north end of campground, stroll through the campground and then take...More

The views sold us; we were captivated by the beautiful wide expanses of open water. Perfection, clear and simple. On our walk back to Cardiff from Encinitas, we could not help but wander off the path to stop and drink in the visual beauty.

From Carlsbad down to Torrey Pines in La Jolla / Del Mar, there are great stretches of beach and a variety of good surf locations. The state parks, including San Elijo, are basically parking lots with hook-ups on the low bluffs overlooking the beaches. Amenities...More

Tough to get sites in the summer but its a wonderful campground year round. 4 rows of sites with most of them separated by shrubbery or bushes of some kind for some privacy. Oceanview sites are a bit pricier, some sites have hookups for RVs....More

The San Elijo State Beach Campground is a fantastic campground. The facilities are very good. The campground provides direct access to the beach and some of California's best surfing. I love this place. I run my dogs thru the campground and area beaches regularly because...More

This is an old fashioned camping experience. They have 171 campsites and about 20 of them have hookups.. It has a wonderful family friendly beach and the surfing is great.

Spaces tight but enough vegetation to give you enough privacy. Remember, your at the beach, space is at a premium. Your views , the soft ocean breezes will help you forget everything except the reason your there, to relax.

I have been camping and surfing at San Elijo since 1987 and I always have a great time here. I love making coffee and zipping over to V.G.'s Donuts before the surf check. Book way ahead during peak season.
