Must Visit when in Paro

Dzong architecture is used for buildings, a distinctive type of fortified monastery architecture found mainly in Bhutan, its serve as the religious/monastic
and administrative centers of respective dzongkhang/district. They are often the site of an annual tsechu or religious festival.

There buildings are one of the iconic buildings found in Bhutan and while in Paro its a must visit. Its gives the true example of cultural and architectural designs of Bhutan.
Its a huge buildings build by stone and wood mostly.

A must visit place in Paro

Located beside Paro river it is monolithically constructed by wood without use of nails. Original structure destroyed by fire in the last century and reconstructed later-on. From the western balcony of of the Dzong one can have stunning vie of Paro Ton.

Excellent Example of Bhutanese Architecture

Rinpung Dzong (Paro Dzong) is considered by many to be the finest example of Bhutan architecture. This Dzong is built right on the edge of a hillside overlooking one of the most scenic section of Paro Valley and the Paro-Chu River - stunning scenery here. As can be seen from the attached photos, this Dzong is BIG in size, and it still being used by the Paro City government administrative offices in certain closed sections of the complex. However, portions of the interior areas and the exterior courtyard areas are open for Tourists. Also, it should be noted that "NO Photos" allowed inside the building when you reach the check-in desk for Visitors. Prior to the check-in desk, there are several nice wall murals - photos are allowed of the wall murals prior to the check-in security desk which then has the "NO Photos Allowed" sign beyond that point.

The open courtyard area is very large and exhibits the stunning architecture that makes Bhutan so unique in this area. The complex is well maintained and clean - very worthwhile place to visit.

Last Dzong visit in Bahutan.

A very nice Dzong with religous part of the monastory and administration part of the civil service. After so many Dzongs we visited that one is the last one in Bahutan before leaving the cpuntry.

The administrative centre of Paro as well as a monastery

Another interesting Dzong. It was active as the administrative centre of Paro, but was also an active monastery. Filled with beautiful murals.

First Dzong to visit upon your arrival to Paro

The Dzong is the first eye opening to you as the Bhutanese culture and experience. Walk around and pass the bridge too to its unique architecture and building techniques. This is one of the five you must see in Bhutan. It used to be a fortress, but now converted to a monastery inside. Buddhism is everything in Bhutan.

Rinpung Dzong, popularly know as, Paro Dzong is situated in the Paro Valley. This Dzong is a monastery and also houses the administrative offices of the valley.
The entry will require you to be with a guide and you need to pay ₹500 for the visit and guide's fee. The monastery is beautiful and you will learn a lot about Buddhism.
Once you have been inside, the guide will allow you to take a stroll outside the monastery and photography is allowed only outside the Dzong.
There is a vast balcony that outlooks the Paro Valley and the international airport.
If you are carrying luggage, the guide will allow you to leave it outside the monastery.

One of the Best place, we have visited. Don't miss it in Paro. 2 rivers just get merged nearby. Beautiful location and must visit, like Tiger's Nest.

Beautiful and romantic

This Dzong is good. You can go in only in officially open days. Not before and after office hours. The real beauty is in the evening when it lights up. It looks so romantic.
