Along with the famed Palace, this ancient clock tower is the other standout feature of the Olite skyline. I’m not sure about the history and am grateful for previous reviewers for filling in the gaps. I would suggest that you make the effort to see this tower but, to be honest, if you are in Olite you can’t really miss it!

It is a nice torre but no anything special to go and see just for going there. But while you are at the palace make the couple minute walk to go and see it.

It's a tower, probably an entrance to the old city in medieval times. You can see that the houses either side have been built into the old city walls. The castle is only a few yards away, which is a wonderful excursion.

Known as the Clock Tower, this building sits between the two main squares in Olite. It is not particularly beautiful, but it carries with it a lot of history and importance. Originally part of the Roman city walls it was one of the two gateways in. I believe during the Middle Ages it may have been the center of the market. The Spire seemed to have some importance, designed by the king where the grains, vegetables, salt were contained and introduced - sold. At some point in the14th century, it became the town hall - but not certain for how long. Later a clock was built and placed in the tower, which sounded out when the gates were to be closed. The tower seems to have undergone many changes over the centuries, but the lower part kept its Medieval/Roman appearance.
