Of all the beautiful monuments in Hampi, this is undoubtedly my most favourite! Beautiful, grand and artistic. Loved it. <3
I just wish we could actually experience the musical pillars in the temple. I can understand why visitors aren’t allowed to go in, but still.
The temple complex is very interesting from the perspective of learning about a civilization that flourished from the 1300's to the 1500's. I would recommend hiring a guide, as the person we had was knowledgeable about the history and Hindu symbolism of the temples, which...More

You can see the major sights in two days, but more time would not be boring.. I do not use a guide and the guidebooks they sell there are not very useful. There is abundant information and maps on the internet. The TA forum has many posts on itineraries and costs. I recommend finding a good rickshaw driver who can give brief information about a site and get you there. I paid 800 idr per day and had an excellent very knowledgeable driver: Jeelan-tel 7829989516. I suggest you reserve 1/2 day on your own to visit the Viraprushka temple and take the walk from Hampi Bazaar to the Sri Vitala temple (about 2 km, easy walk and lots to see on the way. Enjoy Hampi.
