Cross the bridge to visit this small but historical wooden shrine, oldest such structure in Tohoku region. Photogenic! For more, check `hiddenjapanguide.com`

Just a short walk from the boat dock or public transportation. Admission is free and it's such a beautiful spot that you don't want to pass this up. Great picture opportunities and good for the entire family.

Godaido is just off the main road and free, so why not stop there?! You can take nice pictures of water and the temple.

Godaido hall is situated on a small island near the shore. The entrance is basically next to the boat harbour and tourist info booth. The hall itself is pretty lacklustre, but the view to Matsushima Bay is excellent. The small bridge leading to Godaido has...More

Easiest temple in Matsushima for those arriving by boat or train. So also rather crowded. Beautiful temple with long tradition. Bridge is fun and has a story. Easy to visit, rather little to see.

Definitely pop over to this small temple located on a small island, which you reach by a cute red bridge. Takes 10 minutes! Worth doing.

The highlight of this spot is the wooden bridge. You can see the water through it. It's not too high from the sea level, but if you have acrophobia, you may become shaky when standing on it. Yet, it's still fun. The temple on this...More

This small temple is on its own tiny island overlooking the bay. The bridge to reach it can be a bit treacherous if wet and scary if you look down and can see through the slats. The temple has excellent carvings of the animals of...More

Godaido temple is very near to the boat docking station and tourist information center. Nice to see a small temple in an island which is just 2 minutes walk. We can see the full Matsushima bay from the temple.
