It's best to do this hike early in the day, as it is quite steep. You will marvel just at the trail, where you can see huge areas of carving which the Nabateans had to do in order to build the trail. Once on the...More

This is a magical spot; just sit on the rocky outcrop and imagine what the valley beneath you was like for the Nabateans and their caravans of traders.

Leave early in the morning, so you're not roasting on the way up, but this was definitely a highlight. The steps up did require a few rest spots to catch your breath, but the views at the top are fantastic. No railings, so if that...More

Quite a climb to get there. Most of it steps but at the very top a little scramble. Well worth the effort once there. A definite wow.

For my adult children who made it up to this place they said it was the highlight of their visit to Petra. The views are amazing and they spent some time just soaking in the views. They reported that not many people over 30 were...More

From the map, this looks like a shorter and easier climb than the Monastery. It isn't, and it's less interesting and less rewarding once you get up the top. And when I got halfway down, I found out that I could have continued on the...More

A must do for me. View from the top is well worth the climb and the back part of the al farasa trail is really beautiful and quite peaceful as not many make the effort.

The High Place of Sacrifice is in Petra. If you have not done that then do the whole hike starting at the Basin Restaurant then descending into the amphitheater near the Treasury. There is hardly anyone on the route and... More
