The High Place of Sacrifice takes about 25 minutes to walk, stopping to take photos on route and was one of our favourite places and definitely worth the effort to get there. It is steeper than the monastery walk and mainly steps so not much...More

Quite a climb to get there. Most of it steps but at the very top a little scramble. Well worth the effort once there. A definite wow.

For my adult children who made it up to this place they said it was the highlight of their visit to Petra. The views are amazing and they spent some time just soaking in the views. They reported that not many people over 30 were...More

From the map, this looks like a shorter and easier climb than the Monastery. It isn't, and it's less interesting and less rewarding once you get up the top. And when I got halfway down, I found out that I could have continued on the...More

A must do for me. View from the top is well worth the climb and the back part of the al farasa trail is really beautiful and quite peaceful as not many make the effort.

We made it from bottom to top in under an hour. We were able to get a good view of the street of facades.

For the tired souls who have made it to the Monastery, it's more for personal satisfaction. You have to walk further and climb up a bit to reach the place and you will be rewarded by the beautiful view of the Jordanian Valley!!

Start early, before it get's too warm and too crowded. Hike the entire distance, starting by the Roman teatre and finishing by the restaurants in "maintown Petra". The view from top is beautiful and continuing the hike along the "backside" of Petra is most definately...More

Suggest going early in the morning to beat the traffic. Be careful at the top, there are some places where one could step off and quickly regret it. Refreshments available at the top.

This is an absolute must and worth the nearly 2 hour donkey ride to the top. It would take several hours to do a hike. There are no markers on the way to tell you where to start climbing. There are several Bedouin families in...More

The High Place of Sacrifice is in Petra. If you have not done that then do the whole hike starting at the Basin Restaurant then descending into the amphitheater near the Treasury. There is hardly anyone on the route and... More
