The Naga Metropolitan Cathedral aka. Metropolitan Cathedral and Parish of Saint John the Evangelist was built in 1808 and considered the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Caceres. Damaged and ravaged by earthquakes and typhoons this cathedral stands the test of time. Presently painted in black (waterproofing) due to numerous leaks when it rains. The interiors have been refurbished to stand earthquakes. A visit to this place brings you a lot of bonuses as it is surrounded by a lot of historical landmarks tucked away. #RP

this Church (formal name: Naga Metropolitan Cathedral and Parish of Saint John the Evangelist) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the city of naga, province of camarines sur, bicol region. from outside, one can see a single dome and a couple of spires.

it has a romanesque style and baroque architecture, typical of the church designs during the spanish era. thia cathedral can sit simultaneously 1450 people and can accommodate 2300 more when standing. it is huge!

the facade changes colors depending on the direction of the sun. from dark gray at early dawn, it turns brown in the morning to yellow as the sun sets. it’s worth visiting when you have time to spare in naga.

Although this is not an old really historic cathedral compared to others it is still worth a visit.
Serene and simple design there is a relaxing peaceful atmosphere inside that allows you to meditate or just relax away from the noise and busyness of Naga.
Spend a little time in between services as its used quite a lot for events and catholic services and you will be rewarded with a lovely experience while in Naga. Vist the buildings adjacent to the Cathedral as these are of relevance to the religious life in the Philippines.

Very majestic in its own way. The church is one of the oldest in the country with the original architecture still intact. One of the must visit when you go to Naga, not just the Basilica of Peñafrancia.

What a grand place, with elegant arched ceiling peppered with detailed mosaic work and stained glass windows depicting scenes from the Bible.

Statues of saints, angels and the Holy Family abound, and outside is a wide, spacious area where a memorial to the tricentennial of the Penafrancia stands.

They have benches outside the church where you can do some reflection in the decisions you're about to make. :-)

This is one of the big churches in Naga City. The church just had a facelift last year, and now ready for the visita iglesia this year.

The Naga Metropolitan Cathedral compound has enough space for visitor parking.
