- lemitch11 contributionsPerfect ViewPerfect Cone, Perfect View, Amazing Volcano, those are the things that will totally remains on your head if you see the beauty of Mt. Mayon Volcano. Mayon Volcano is still active, if you try to visit you can see the smoke coming from the top of the cone. 475 kilometers travel manila to albay legazpi, 700 php Gasoline, 12 hours ride (NMax) those are the total you need to consume if you want to see the stunning beauty of mount Mayon. But "PROMISE" once you got there, all stress, pain and other negative feeling will totally relieved when you started to staring the beauty of Mayon.Visited January 2020Written March 6, 2020
- Bernard IDumfries, Virginia8 contributionsMayon VolcanoThe highlight of our visit to Bicol was Mayan Volcano. We stayed in a hotel Casablanca suites in Legaspi that overlooked Mount Mayan and Lignon Hill. We captured great views from Lignon Hill and had fun with the zip line. I would strongly recommend a visual to Daraga Cathedral as it is an awesome church and also has great views. We visited the Caswaga ruins and rounded out our visit with a trip up the Mountain on the road to Tobaco PH. It is not well marked so you will need to be observant. The windy road is several kilometers long but well worth the vistas of the shoreline and mountain though you will probably be in the clouds and not see the top.Visited March 2020Traveled as a coupleWritten March 11, 2020
- Allan H7 contributionsAlways breathtakingDuring my 3rd trip to Legazpi, I first glimpsed Mayon breaking through the clouds in the early morning as our approached to land, with a long wisp of white smoke like the vapor trail of a jet. Once we landed, the word majestic comes to mind seeing it looming so big right in front of you, looking so near. Locals would take you for a good person if you saw Mayon, though I'd take that lightheartedly; on my previous visit 2 years ago, haze and clouds kept it from view. But this is always the highlight, if not the main purpose, of any visit to Albay.Visited March 2020Traveled on businessWritten March 14, 2020

Can’t get enough of Mt Mayon. You can go around it and realise that it looks the same anyway you position yourself. Glad it showed itself during our visit.

Strongly recommend for everyone to visit the Mayon Volcano when you get the chance. We were lucky to see her full beauty. One ticked off my bucket list.
The locals are friendly, food are yummy, and
cheap accommodations as well with ac and hot water.
Would definitely come back!!

Mayon is one of the famous and most scenic volcanoes in the Philippines. It stands almost 2,500 meters tall and is visible from many cities and towns of Albay Province. The best time to view its almost perfect cone is early in the morning since clouds tend to cover it the rest of the day. Great spots to view Mayon Volcano would be the Cagsawa Ruins, the town of Camalig, and the city of Tabaco. A visit to Bicol won't be complete without a glimpse of this masterpiece of nature! :D

Hmmm. I don't understand. But, if the question is...what's the best month to visit Mayon Volcano, or Legaspi - April is best!

I’m planning on visiting Mayon volcano in January 2019. Would the weather be clear to view the volcano?
What’s the safest and closest adventure to the volcano?
Maraming slamat po.

Hi there! You can stay in Ninongs hotel located in Legazpi City, ask for the volcano room side (very reasonable price)From the airport, there are vans available and we used the same van/ driver to guide us to various scenic spots in Albay. We were also able to experience ATV near the volcano( quite restricted last February because it was actively erupting). January could be nice since its a cooler month and as long as there is no typhoon.

Anyone here tried trekking up the mayon? How long does it take? Which company can you recommend? How far to donsol from legazpi? Thanks

Since the recent Mayon Volcano eruption, hike to the crater is prohibited. Even ATV Tours are permitted up to the Black Lava front only. Travel time from Legazpi City to Donsol in Sorsogon takes about one and a half to two hours by car.

You can only go up a certain level. In the Cagsawa Ruins, you can rent an ATV. Give it a day or half a day, defending on what you plan to do.

-accommodation:
**where did you stay? Do they come to pick you up?
Any tip is more than welcome!

For hotels with Mayon view, The Oriental Hotel is the best pick, located atop a hill. Down side: Buffet is OK. Local dishes are available ala carte.
Embarcadero Hotel has Mayon views too, cheaper rates, clean rooms. It is close to the city port and Legazpi Boulevard, a long coastal road where locals go for daily walk or jog. Mayon is also visible there. Think of seafront view.
Down side:no elevator at 3rd floor (but when we where there, it was functional), no slippers too, breakfast is ordinary.
For ATV tour, pick Your Brother and Tours (Mayon ATV Tours) in Pawa. One ATV tour is enough :)
Try this route:Embarcadero-Pawa-Lignon Hill-Daraga Church-Cagsawa Ruins and all the way to Camalig.
The eztanza road also has a view of Mayon and there's a mountain resort too.

Hey! I’m traveling to the legazpi on the 15th, and arriving at 6am (as long as no delays) will I have any issues getting from the airport to accommodation? Anyone recommend anywhere for me and my girlfriend? Will I be able to sort a tour out for that day? As I want to go do donsol the next day.
Thanks in advance!

You can book already online in advance and have the hotel shuttle service pick you up. Otherwise, there will always be taxi cabs waiting at the airport. Our family stayed at St. Ellis Hotel. Our driver then showed us available tours since his brother works in a tour company in the city.
Try the Bicolandia ATV experience! And also visit the Hoyop - Hoyopan Cave. For local dining experience, try the Colonial Grill for exotic ice cream flavors especially the sili flavored ice cream.
