Incredible cravings and artwork. Very well preserved temple. A must see when your seeing the temples. It is over whelming since there are 4,000 temples in this area. Another great way to see them is by hot air balloon.

Another big and elegant Temple in Bagan built in mainly red brick. This one stands out for fantastic plaster carvings and sandstone decorations on its exterior. This is also the place to buy your souvenirs. The entire temple is encircled with many shops and street...More

One of my favorite temples in Bagan! We were very lucky and got to see some longneck tribe members outside the temple doing some artisan work.

Htilominlo is a superb red-brick temple with two floor levels thought he second level is not now accessible, for safety reasons. Built in the 11th century, its unique aspect is that it was built to withstand earthquakes -- it has layers of bricks laid horizontal...More

You can't miss Htilominlo if you're driving up the road from Nyang-U to Old Bagan. For me, this is one that I stop in because it's huge, but I don't stay around too long. Just feels kinda too touristy.

Good Buddha images in arch recesses all build into the walls. Renovated in 1968 it retains some lovely plaster carvings which are delicate as well as having demon images for protection

It’s beautiful in and out. Exquisite deco outside and a shining golden statute of the Buddha inside. The upper floors were under renovation so we couldn’t climb up. Lots of souvenir stalls around the compound.

When you spend a whole day seeing pagodas and temples it can be hard to tell one from the other. This is one to remember, though. Very beautiful. Can be seen in 15 minutes.

This temple has it all. It is pleasing to the eye outside and has beautiful golden Buddhas inside based on Indian Buddhas as they have long ears. It is worshipped a lot by locals.

This Temple was an architectural marvel for its time. To best appreciate this, a guide should be hired to better explain the advancement of architecture. For example, the bricks are laid such that one layer is vertically and an adjacent layer is horizontally arranged allowing...More
