The toraja villages is a good place to explore. Very special unique culture. The local people very friendly if you can speak their bahasa. The local simple food also very special. But mostly with spicy . Their local rice is very nice.

We definitely recommend you to visit Rantepao with a guide. So many places you visit have such a long history and are closely linked to cultural habits - without any explanation a lot of questions would remain. We can totally recommend Yuspan as a guide!...More

We visited Toraja in may 2018 for 3 full days and were lucky enough to have found Yuspan as a guide. For this region, a truly Torajan guide is highly recommended in order to truly understand the culture. Not only does Yuspan meet this requirement,...More

one of the most interesting places in Rantepao in Sulawesi... nice guide available, stone graves, different cultures, amazing rice fields around, nice guesthouses.

I saw people in Toraja could live in different way, but somehow it works. I think it is a place where you could re-think about your own life and understand more about local wisdom.

Drove from the capital to Toraja - took around 6-7 hours. Fly in is maybe possible now, but was not an option 1 yr ago. The air strip is present but as far as understood not actively used.
