The ancient Sri Erumbeeswarar temple situated on a rock. There are nearly 60 steps to reach the temple. We could see the aerial view of Trichy and able to see the Srirangam gopuram if the sky is clear.

Erunbeeswarar temple in trichy is a lord Shiva temple and it's a very oldest and historic temple with pillars. Lord Shiva is suyambu.

This is temple dedicated for Lord Shiva where the diety of Lord Shiva is made of sand which is said to be formed by itself.

At Thiru Erumbeeswarar temple rishis in the form of ants worshiped lord Shiva and they are blessed by lord Shiva. Pradosh, Theppam and Shivratri festivel are very famous.

The temple is not visible from the highway, use a GPS to get here .. but do get here, it;s worth it. Built on an ancient rock this is a large temple and a beautiful one. Walk up the wind swept stairs to the temple...More

When we went there it was closed but you can walk up top till the main gate of the temple - decent views of the city around greet you. Not sure about the history of the temple though!
