Buland Darwaza is just an entrance to Ajmer Shariff shrine and is located in a very busy and crowded market. One has to be extremely careful of pick-pockets and con people.

Its the entrance gate to the famous Ajmer Sharif dargah. Its a strong and tall darwaza (door) serving as a monument in itself,a part of history

The Buland Darwaza, can, therefore, more acceptably be attributed to Ghiyas al-din Khilji. It was not only Akbar and the Khilji Sultans who adorned Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishty ‘s tomb. It is the Gateway to the holy Dargah of Khwaja Gareeb Nawaz. Most of the taxis and auto rickshaws would drop you here and then you can walk towards the Dargah.
