My girlfriend and I booked a 7 day climb up the Lemosho Route and Masaga was one of our two guides. My partner is vegan and the team was very accommodating for her diet. Our waiter and cook were fantastic, so much food! Both of our guides were fantastic. They were proactive about taking pictures and making wonderful memories for us. The rest of our team was awesome as well. Everything on the trek went smoothly.
The group was flexible; we summitted on the 6th day just as the sun was rising, and rather than camp halfway down at Mweka camp, we were given the option of returning all the way to the bottom and having an extra night in the hotel. Everything went perfectly.

I've seen my fair share of mountain peaks and stunning views. Out of all these, Mt Kilimanjaro is, without a doubt, the best of the lot.

Without the hard work and expertise of Masaga, Frank, and the other mountain guides and porters, there's no way we would've been able to get through the journey to the peak. They're also a friendly and caring bunch, and kept a sharp eye on us to make sure we were all safe.

Thank you again to this incredible team of individuals! I will always look back on our journey fondly.

My best summary of the entire experience would be "absolutely breathtaking -in more ways than one". You'd agree with me once you reach the peak yourself.

My friends and i went in a group of 5, aided by Frank, Masaga and their team of very fit, seasoned individuals. We were well looked after and our needs met. Throughout the trek, our well-being and needs were always being looked out for.
They knew exactly what they were doing: when the going would get tough, who was beginning to show signs of strain from the altitude, and how to go about managing it. They even improvised and tweaked the route/speed of the trek to accommodate the changes in weather and our personal schedules.

As daunting a task as summiting a mountain was (a first for me), we never really had much to worry about. All we really had to do was walk, eat, sleep, and then repeat.

He knows what he is doing and how to deal with climbers dealing with dilemma, exhaustion, altitude sickness. He knows exactly how to get people up there and summit. We had a great experience, zero incidence and my friends had an amazing time. Great leader to the team.

Up to now the best experience of my life!!! Masaga, king of the mountain, made us feel like traveling with local friends that protected us from hazards, taught us details of the culture as well as the kili nature. They gave us good briefing sessions in order to prepare us for the next days adventure and also managed to adjust, when possible, their schedule to meet our physical capabilities...

My husband, sister-in law, and I did the 8-day Lomosho route. It was an incredible experience with surreal surroundings (seriously surreal and beautiful), physical and mental challenges, and great company.
Masaga and his team were a huge reason in our success in reaching the summit. They weren't just good guides and porters, they are very kind and genuine people, hard working, and incredibly supportive. We were all just one big team on an adventure together.
They ensured we were comfortable, they carefully and efficiently moved our camp and belongings everyday, made sure we were well-fed, well-rested, checked our vitals every night, taught us about the mountain and Tanzania, and cheered us on until the very end.
The tents and mattresses provided were comfortable and of good quality, we had clean water, a clean private toilet, and lots of homey food (hot soup with every meal definitely helped during the colder days). We always felt very well taken care of and attended to.
It wasn't an easy trek, yet it was filled with countless amazing and happy moments, lots of which are thanks to our team, and I cannot imagine having done it without our new friends.
I do recommend bringing as many layers as possible and listening to the guides when they tell you to wear at least 5 layers for the day of the summit. These guys know what they're doing and can help you reach the roof of Africa safely and successfully.

I am an experienced mountaineer with a plethora of summits over 14'000 ft. Climbing Kili was different. At 19,341 ft it was the highest and most rewarding. The team made the difference. We felt at home upon starting and the guides very soon told us, "Pole Pole (po-lay po-lay... Slow Slow). That's what Kilimanjaro is about; just keep going. It's a mountain anyone can climb, just take those couple extra days for acclimatization and YOU can do it!

My group reached the top Hakuna Noma (no problem). It's worth the trip and you'll always have the knowledge that
YOU DID THAT!

Climbing Kilimanjaro would have been impossible without our guide Masaga and the rest of the crew. We had a wonderful experience that we will never forget! Guided by the best of the best, we really felt like we were in safe hands. They knew everything about all the nature and animals. They knew how to motivate us when we were feeling especially challenged. We sang songs, shared stories, and had an absolutely wonderful time! The food was delicious - something to look forward to every day. They really made sure that every one of our needs was taken care of. We were not shy to ask if we needed anything, and they would always make sure we were super comfortable and happy. Especially the last day, the most challenging one, the summit - it would not have been possible to reach our goal without these hardworking and dedicated guys. Super attentive, caring, friendly and happy characters. The best thing was their attention to detail. I felt they did little things that other companies would not care about, offering help and warmth in every way possible. Would definitely recommend Hope Star to anyone dreaming of summiting Kilimanjaro! 10/10
