Gideon and his crew of three took care of us as if we were in a movie. Mike the chef prepared incredible meals on the camp fire, including freshly baked bread every day! The tents were spacious, very clean and comfortable. Festus made sure that we had hot water for the shower and sinks. He kept the bathroom tent (adjacent to our sleeping tent always impeccable. Deddy the manager made sure that all activities ran on time and that we were comfortable and satisfied. Gideon is an excellent driver, a very knowledgeable guide, and made sure that our safari experience and wild life spotting was unforgettable. We highly recommend a glamping safari with African Jacana Safari if you want to be immersed in the wild yet be comfortable and safe.

I organized this trip for a group of friends, most of whom are photographers and know southern Africa well...
From the creation of the itinerary with the Maun team (including Mariam) to the implementation on the ground, this trip fulfilled all our expectations in terms of animal encounters: 8 different leopards, wild dogs, groups of lions, hundreds of elephants, a cheetah on the hunt among others...
Even if the Delta was not yet completely under water (you have to wait until June/July for that but the night and morning temperatures will then be freezing!) our two outstanding guides (Gideon and Nelson) hammered home to us:
“Here in Botswana, we have not quantity but quality”
and they were right! We did 3 different traveling camps
(Moremi/Kwai/Savuti) and each place was truly unique!
The logistics team was fantastic, hot shower every day, the cooks and the waiter prepared unimaginable quality dishes for us in the middle of the bush!
The only improvement to be made: more uniform and quality mattresses and box springs and also more light in the tents...
No doubt that these comments will be addressed to improve the comfort of future customers, VIVA JACANA!

African Jacana has organized for us a extensive trip in the Okawongo. We spent 4 nights camping in each of three parks : Moremi, Khwai, Sawuti, and then went for a 2 nights stay in a lodge in Chobe..
For planning of the trip , African Jacana listened to our (many) requirements and wishes, and we thus had the best “a la carte” program that we could wish for. We had excellent value for money when we compared with catalogs of other companies. We used two 4x4, and our guides, Gideon and Nelson, were really outstanding: skilled driving, outstanding ability to spot fauna; and thorough knowledge of the fauna and flora. Our group counted several skilled photo enthusiasts and our guides were very helpful in finding the best spot and position for outstanding photos and videos.
Camping equipment was great; a special mention for the food, that was excellent on any standards, and we still wonder how our chef cook Moussa could perform these culinary miracles on woodfire with basic cookware.
All other services (meeting at airport, transits etc..) went very smoothly.

Our Botswanan safari with Gideon and his crew was amazing. Their knowledge of, and passion for, the natural environment was clear from Day One. This was our first visit to Africa and we were not sure what we were going to experience. Camping in the wild gave us the opportunity to see animals big and small up close and away from large groups of people. Words cannot describe what it is like to see some of the animals you've read about or watch in documentaries in their natural habitat for the first time. This was an experience beyond our usual day to day lives but the briefings and guidance we received from the team made us feel safe during our time in the bush. We will never forget this. Our tent was very comfortable and large enough for a 185 cm tall person to stand up in and we appreciated the private toilet facilities attached to the back of the tent. Mikey, our Botswanan Master Chef, consistently produced wonderful meals in the bush kitchen and we loved sitting around the bush television at night, hearing the sounds of animals roaming around. We allowed 12 days to visit Magkadikgadi, Moremi and Chobe National Parks and Khwai Concession. All very different locations and offering wonderful wildlife experiences. Be aware that the driving time between Maun and some of these locations takes longer than it looks on a map due to the condition of the roads so if you want to visit them all, allow plenty of time. Also be prepared to be flexible as you are travelling in remote places and things don't always go to plan. We enjoyed this trip so much that we hope to do another one in the not-too-distant future. Ke a leboga to Gideon and your team, Anne & Paul.

We, 2 women, traveling in a rental car from Namibia, had 4 fantastic days in the Okovanga Delta and Moremi Game Reserve. Our guesthouse in Maun put us in touch with Mr. Gideon and he organized a one-day mokoro tour with a 3-hour hike at extremely short notice, during which we saw a lot of animals: groups of elephants and individual bulls in the water, zebras, wildebeest, etc. It was impressive when a 🐘 herd passed very close to us. The poiler (guide) was very knowledgeable and showed us a lot. The next day we set off on a 3-day camp safari with Mr. Gideon and his 2-person team in the Moremi National Park. All of this for the 2 of us alone! It was a special luxury for us. The camp in the middle of the park, just for our group, fulfilled all our wishes: tent with toilet and shower, hot meals in the evening. We went on game drives with Mr. Gideon every day. He showed us lions, hippos, elephants, zebras, giraffes, crocodiles, leopards, jackals, etc. It was exciting to stand just a few meters in front of a lion. We also went on a boat trip in a boat with a superstructure from which you have a wonderful view of the water landscape. We saw elephants lying in the water eating grass, lots of birds. We can highly recommend African Jacana. Although it was very short notice, we got two great tours. All the people were friendly and competent. The price was reasonable! Thank you

A fabulous trip for our group of nine friends, thanks to the wonderful team at African Jacana. 12 days of tent camp, moved to 3 different locations in Okavango. Our 2 guides Gideon and Nelson have excellent knowledge of the bush, and are excellent drivers, despite the sometimes difficult track conditions (silting always very well managed! ...). They took us on safari every day to the places where the animals were, which we were able to see in very large quantities: elephants, hippos, zebras, giraffes, antelopes of all kinds, numerous lions, several cheetahs and leopards, birds of all kinds and so many others... At the camp, always a warm wood fire and meals worthy of a very good restaurant, also concocted over a wood fire by Moussa, the incredible cook. Fresh bread every day, pizzas, cakes, meats, vegetables, fresh salads etc. We feasted ! Comfortable tents (you can stand up perfectly) with “real beds” and a private bathroom/toilet area with a hot shower every day. Thank you to the whole team, for your incredible commitment and for pampering us during these 12 days. I will keep incredible memories of this stay :)

We are a family of 4 and went for a 1-day Moremi safari. Gideon was superb as a driver and guide and truly went the extra mile for us. We had a full day starting at 5.30am, were served coffee and biscuits at the gate to the park and then spend more than 6 hours tracking wild animals. The highlights were leopard and African wild dogs on top of the usual suspects.
Gideon was unbelievably knowledgeable and also took us to remoter places of the park. At the same time the rates were not as extortionate as some of the agencies in Maun are charging and both kids got a discount. Would highly recommend!

If you want to see the wildlife of Botswana up close and personal African Jacana Safari are just the best! Gideon and his team are so experienced, knowledgable and respectful about their country and most importantly, they put you at ease making you feel completely safe at all times. We did a 10 night wild camping trip with them visiting Morami, Kwari, Savuti and Chobe - all absolutely amazing. We saw the wild dogs with their young eating a kill, female lions fighting of a male lion to safe their cubs and many, many more animals in abundance! A special mention too to Wilson, the chef, who made us delicious wholesome meals and always with a smile. The trip was everything and much more than we expected, memories that will stay with us forever - thank you so much African Jacana Safari !

I was on a larger overland tour when a few friends and myself decided to break off and tour the Moremi Reserve with Gideon. He was an amazing tour guide and frequently checked in on how we were feeling/what we wanted. We drove all day looking at wildlife. The campsite and crew were equally amazing. Every meal was wonderful and the tents were very comfortable. We didn’t want to leave! I’d highly recommend touring with this company.

I came with no plans at all and the office helped me organise an amazing week in Botswana, suitable for my budget. I was impressed by how patient they were, and ready to meet my wishes. Gideon the guid has a lot of experience and knowledge, what makes the trip even better. The Safari experience was absolutely amazing, the food was great, and the team was nice and fun.
