We did the 15 day safari with Theno and his team in June July 2023 exploring the Okavango Delta in Moremi National Park, up to Savute then Chobe NP.
We did fully inclusive camping with them, and we and our 12 year old and 16 year old had an amazing time. Theno (aka Sox) is incredibly knowledgeable about the wildlife, bird life and vegetation and we are still trying to absorb all the different species we saw. The food was plentiful and I still can’t believe how Miambo bakes such brilliant bread over a fire!We would thoroughly recommend this team and would definitely come again!!

Huge shout out to Sox and his team at Okavango Exploration Safaris. We have just returned from a 12 day mobile camping safari in Botswana. We met in Maun and then travelled through both the Moremi Game Reserve and Chobe National Park river front, ending our trip at Victoria Falls. It was such a wonderful holiday, we all loved every minute of it. There were so many animals, it was amazing. We booked a private tour with 7 of us, which was the perfect amount to fit nicely in the jeep and around the dinner table. I believe you can also book individually and Sox will put a group together for you. The camping was very comfortable, with quick hot water showers and your own bush toilet at the back of each tent. All meals were provided and we especially loved the morning tea and sundowner drinks on the front of the jeep whilst out on safari. We chose a fully serviced safari, so the team did all the work, making it very relaxing for us. We could easily charge our devices/cameras in the jeep when we were out on Safari. Not having any Wi-Fi reception was one of the main perks ! It was a very special holiday and I can’t wait to do it again, would highly recommend.

Sox and his team were so accommodating. We went with a group of seven and had the most incredible time. We did the 12 day mobile camping Safari and saw so many incredible animals. Sox and his team had the most delicious food (3 meals a day and 2 snacks). Making camping in the wilderness, feel luxurious. I could not recommend this holiday enough so much fun.

WE did not use this company but another one in which Sox worked before and from time to time help them making some services as guide. So, he was our guide from Maun to Kasane, via Morami, Sabuti, Chobe where we continued our trip to Victoria Falls. He is amazing. He grew up in Okavango Delta and since he was 6-year old he has been with his father knowing the wild. He is able to realize when a leopard did not eat yet and likely will go hunting. So we wait and... there it was. Coming to our proximity and hunting a wild-cat. He transmit you the security that makes you feel safe even when you have lions closeby, elephants surrounding your landcruiser, in the night with lions roaring at 200 mts from your camp, or he is able to move the heavy landcruiser blocked in the sands with an mazing amount of resources. Since you meet him the first time you see that he is an open guy, close to people, an amazing story-teller. The experience with him is far beyond a safari. As I said, we did not hire this company because we did not know. But we were lucky enough that he took care of our visit. Superb. Is not the company, is him and his team. We were 7 people, from Spain. Thanks, Sox.

I am one of 2 friends, living in different countries. We meet each year for a few weeks in a third place. Last September, 2024, we went to Botswana.

I started looking at options in April 2024 and came across the Okavango Safari Exploration trip. This was exactly what we were looking for. I liked the idea of the small group, and camping out, and also being with a guide who knew the area. All the reviews that I read reinforced my initial impression.

After 2 nights in Maun, Theno, our guide, picked us up at our hotel and we drove to the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, entering the park at South Gate. We met the second vehicle and the 2 other members of Theno's team on the way. The first wildlife that we saw was a group of 7 or so giraffes outside the park, followed soon after by a single kudu. We stopped at the South Gate for a packed lunch, and then travelled on to the campsite .

We stayed 3 nights in the first campsite, Xini (?), then moved on to Khwai for 4 nights, followed by 2 nights in Savute and the last night in Kasane town. We were taken to our hotel in Kasane the following day. As we were a small group, we weren't asked to help out with the work. I believe this is more the case with larger groups.. We shared a spacious tent with an annex at the rear with a shower and toilet. The tent had a comfortable stretcher bed each, complete with a mattress, pillow and bedding. Very nice. The lads had a similar one person tent each. All meals were cooked by the 2 lads, Miambo and Malachy, and it was excellent.

Each day we would get up early and go out with Theno in the vehicle. We saw elephants, giraffes, wildebeest, impalas, zebras etc. We saw lions on numerous occasions, once we saw 4 cheetahs and twice we saw leopards. There were also wild dogs, hyenas, jackals as well as many, many birds.

At Khwai there is a large body of water and here there were hippos and crocodiles. Lots of elephants, my favourite, in the water. I heard the hippos in the night from the tent. Another night I heard lions calling nearby. There was a honey badger near our first campsite. We were called out one morning to see about 30 elephants passing by our campsite, That was brilliant.

To sumarise. Theno, Miambo, and Malachy are all great guys. Everything was easy, welcoming and well organised. We went out to see the animals in the morning, coming back for lunch. This was followed by a couple of hours rest time in the camp and we would head out again later in the afternoon when the animals are more active. We returned to a shower and dinner then relaxed till bedtime. Theno is a brilliant guide, he has lots of information about the wildlife. He has a great ability to find the animals and drives expertly on the sometimes very challenging roads. The guides are in touch with each other by radio, so if there is something to see we hear about it. Wildlife is abundant in all areas.

I have traveled quite a bit over the last 50 years. This was one of the more memorable trips that I have done.

Our family spent 12 nights in Moremi Game Reserve with Okavango Exploration Safaris on a semi-participation mobile safari and we had an experience of a lifetime! Theno (aka Sox), the safari guide and owner, is a brilliant guide whose knowledge of the bush, animals and birds meant that we had fantastic sightings including a pack of wild painted dogs which we saw three days in a row, on one day being chased by a male lion (such a privilege to see these beautiful endangered animals), two male leopards on one game drive, a pride of five male lions, honey badgers, hyenas and the list goes on and on! Moremi was bursting with wonderful bird-life (there had been some much-needed rain in the weeks leading up to our arrival). It is a bird-watcher's paradise. We never felt rushed and, unlike those staying at the safari lodges, we were able to take our time and soak up all the sights and smells for as long as we wanted. Theno's love of the bush and animals made this possible - thank you, Theno: it is clearly not just a job for you, but a way of living and being. Delicious meals were provided by Muyambo (supported by Ante), as well as wonderful, freshly made bread and muffins - all baked in the camp-fire. Semi-participation meant we participated in erecting and dismantling out tents and generally helped unpack/pack a few things away - it was not at all difficult and made us feel more a part of the experience. We will be back, as soon as possible!

Sox is an outstanding guide. He is passionate about wildlife and hugely knowledgeable - particularly about the extraordinary variety of birdlife around the Okavango. The Safari was amazing each day and better the next! That is what Sox delivers. Clever organization, great driving skills (which really counts on challenging tracks), wonderful food all make the adventure a lifetime high point. We saw every species in Botswana and, when danger loomed, Sox kept everyone safe. And he and his team are great company too!

We had a fabulous safari with Sox and Muambo and another friend. Sox has all the ingredients of a great guide: a good driver, a good spotter, full of information about the flora and fauna of his country, and a warm personality. We also felt very safe in his hands. His brother, Muambo, is a wonderful cook and a lively presence in camp. I highly recommend this safari company. We indend to go out with them again soon!
