Going here you can read about where Captain Cook landed. It was clean and had information, so you do not need much more than that I guess.

I enjoy visiting historic sites but when we arrived to this particular site it was all I could do to refrain from bursting in to Peggy Lee's "Is that all there is?" It's on the Taufa'ahau Road (the principal road in Nuku'alofa) about 10 minutes'...More

It is a small sign overlooking the bay where you can imagine Captain Cook's ship entering into, possible taking in my the ship's rowing boats. The landing place chosen because it was close to the then capital village of Tonga where the King lived.

Being a Kiwi it was good to see what our aid money has paid for.... The landing site itself has a walk way to the water, a plaque to give information and a covered area where people set up stalls. We stopped here for 10...More

On the tour with Toni we stopped off for a few minutes to this so called landing spot. Looking down to the sea you will see lots of mangrove growing and lots of mud. As I have a real interest in the voyages of Captain...More

Nice place to get out of the car to take some photos. Interesting information board but when we visited on a Sunday, the information centre was closed.

This site requires no more than 5 minutes of your time. There are two plaques, one for James Cook and on the reverse another plaque noting that Queen Elizabeth visited the site in 1970. If you are oon yiu way to someplace else, this would...More
