Our group did the Pruitt to Hasty canoe trip. We had adults, teens and kids as young as 2. The trip took about 4 hours. It was very fun for everyone. There was several spots where there were small rapids which made it exciting. There’s several branches and trees to watch out for. We did get hit in the face or had to lay down to go under a tree branch at times. At the end of the trip there was a log in the middle of the water. Lots of people were getting out and walking their canoes and kayaks around it in the rocks… this was the smart thing to do. Two canoes in my group tried to go on the left of the log. The current is very strong right there. The first one got stuck sideways the second did the same but submerged under the second canoe and filled up with water. One of the kids got sucked under the top canoe under water. It was scary. I think the county or whoever is over the river needs to remove this log. We were not the only people that got stuck in this spot. My husband and other men had to help an older couple that got stuck similarly. Overall we enjoyed the trip and would do it again.

I am not a person to complain about things and always say don’t sweat the small stuff but something has to be said about the way the shuttle drivers handled my truck. I had a 55lb weight distribution hitch in the bed of my f250 all the way to the back left side. When I picked up my truck at the end of our float the hitch was all the way up to the cab and my spray in bed liner was torn up in multiple places. My seat was also reclined way back in a leaning position. There is no way a 55lb hitch would move around that much unless it was being driven very recklessly. The roads are steep and winding I know but try it with this much weight and see if it moves like this. I mentioned it to a couple of workers and honestly got a feeling of dismissal from them. I had a bed cover on so they couldn’t see it was back there and I’m sure they thought I wouldn’t know. This is a $70K truck and somebody “drove it like they stole it”. If I had gotten a better response from the employees I brought it up to I may have still recommended them. Pathetic customer service and complete disregard for my vehicle.

We floated the Ponca to Kyles Landing stretch and the float trip itself was beyond amazing! A must do experience. With that being said, the customer service at Buffalo River Canoes is lacking and when I return I will definitely use a different outfitter. We arrived at 9:00 as scheduled and after going through the payment process had to ask several times for directions where to go to put in the water. We were given loose instructions about meeting Tim “he’s an older guy in a blue shirt...uhm yeah” exact words. We met Tim who was wearing a gray shirt and he gave a brief overview of where the take out point would be. At no time did anyone bother to mention how we would retrieve our vehicle keys at the end. When we arrived at Kyles Landing we walked to the parking lot where our vehicle was locked and then had to proceed back to the river to look for an employee where they directed us to look under the back bumper for the key. The float amazing, this outfitter mediocre at best.

These canoes are locally built and most of the liveries use them as their rental boats. So they tend to get hard use. Well priced.

the service is ok tho a little high, $60 just to shuttle, I questioned the river level where I was planning to float and they assured me it was great to float. it was not. there were so many canoes and kayaks overturned all the way down the river because there wasn't enough water to get them over the rocks. I can imagine that will be the last time alot if those people will ever want to float.
