Small but very informative museum. I had read 3 books about Easter Island before visiting and still learned many things at this museum. I was surprised on my day tours at how many visitors knew almost nothing about the Rapa Nui. For those tourists, I...More

This museum gives a great overview of Rapa Nui history. All of the exhibit was in Spanish and English. We completed the museum is about 30 minutes leaving with a deeper history of the local people and culture.

This museum is walking distance from the town, along the coast past the cemetery and Ahu Tahai. It is well worth a visit for 2-3 hours. Don't miss the second smaller building at the back of the museum. Check the opening hours on their website,...More

This is a small museum but free to enter. There is a short video in English and Spanish. There are some well-displayed artifacts and several illustrations about what is known of Rapa Nui history and what remains unknown. Especially interesting is the story of the...More

This is accessible by walking from hotels in Hanga Roa. It is open all day Tuesday to Friday and 0930 to 1230 Saturday and Sunday. We took about 45 min to go round reading everything. The information is in the form of poster boards (...More

Rapa Nui itself seems like a step out of time, the museum helps understand what you have seen and also places it into context with other timely events in the world during the exploration and missionaries.
