We went one day to Laguna del Desierto and another to RÃo Electrico. During the journey there is an audio that tells information about what is being traveled. Fernando, the driver, was super friendly and gave us great advice on everything there was to do in El Chalten. I stop at spectacular places to take photos and continue enjoying the experience. I highly recommend this company and Fernando.

We booked airport transfers but had to cancel due to change in plans. Very helpful service and they refunded us immediately.

: I had a bad experience with Zona Austral. I was charged three times for a service I never used and, despite paying me back once, I was charged twice as much. The company attributed the error to its electronic collection system, but they did not resolve the issue effectively. After several months, I still don't get my $20,000 money. I do not recommend anyone to use your services.

Used Zona Austral to get a transfer to Rio Electrico at the beginning of January (there and return). The journey there was fine, but they were late by more than an hour and a half for the return journey (!!). Unfortunately, this happened at a time when the weather proved to be absolutely terrible (artic winds, snow). I had started walking back to El Chalten when the truck caught up with me and eventually brought me back to town. The story was that their truck had broken down and needed repairs. This to me suggests that they do not have control of their capital assets. If they would do regular maintenance, this kinda thing would not happen. From a value perspective, i felt i had paid way too much; because they were not able to hold to their end of the bargain (pick me up at the right time) and it caused me to be exposed to the elements.
In addition, (and yes, id admit this is speculation; im not a subject matter expert) im wondering whether the truck conversions (they use pickups converted to have covered seats in the back) are stable vehicles in the sense that they do not overload the truck engines with all the added weight of the cabin and passengers. It looked slightly make-shift... This ties into the reliability issue, as i see it.
Bottom line is that i question whether this company is able to provide a reliable service based on my experience. When sh*t hits the fan, i don’t want to wait an hour or two in severe Patagonian weather...
