Pleased to be able to go for a good walk without being constantly aware of bikes (and they probably feel same about us!). Despite busy car park, once you get into the forrest trails you are pretty much alone. Excellently marked routes offering variety of...More

Lots of waymarked walks and mountain bike trails from the Kirroughtree information centre. Enjoyed the bird hide which is surprisingly close to the road. Parking charge very reasonable £3 for all day and that included any of the other car parks in the Galloway forest....More

We arrived, paid £2 for 3 hours parking and set off following the yellow route which is about 3 miles. The walk ascends a gentle incline through the trees and you reach 2 small lochs at the top. It was a clear blue sky day...More

Really enjoyed red and blue routes on bikes. Great bike shop with friendly staff. Walking routes can easily be combined to make a worthwhile trail run. Dog friendly cafe (and bike shop). Good, simple food - soup was particularly delicious.

Visited on a lovely sunny day in March with my wife and our dog. There are plenty of walks and unlike some forests I’ve been to there appear to be separate cycle routes. There’s a great cafe which allows dogs inside not just in the...More

Excellent lunch and good service. We have visited Kirroughtree several times for walks and mountain biking but not used the café previously. We decided to have lunch here as they now allow dogs within the café, just the job on cold March day. Being allowed...More

We loved it here. A two and a half hour walk and the time flew past. Great restaurant, Costa coffee, lovely visitor centre and toilets and a great spot for night-time photography and using a telescope which is what we later returned to do. We...More
