Went to take the cable car from Busteni to Babele. Unfortunately, due to Covid pandemia, the number of tourits in the cable car is limited so you have to wait more to get on the top. siting in the que we were approached by pesons offering a car tour to the mountins including a view point at 1000m, Bolboci dam, the ialomita cave and small churchan last Babele.
For 5 persons we got a discount and got the price for all tour less than going up and down from Babele by cable car.
I loved the tour, we saw a lot of nice places , the only thing i didn't like was the fact the car stoped and parked before Babel where we should walk for around 50 minutes and other 50 minutes back. This was not said before leaving and for the ender ones it was not possible to be done due to lack of preparations for such long trail and also because was late and not enough time to get back before sunset. we stoped for lunch also at a small restaurant (take water with you as except this palce you don't have from where to buy).
advise: if you take this tour go before 11:00 am to have enough time to go to Babele and if you are not used to hike, then don't expect to see Babele and the Sfinx.

The babele was a great aventura. I recommend everybody have the mountains equipamment because the weather changes quickly in one hour you can have “3 season “. The gondola was a little bit “old” and the price was 170 RON for up and down

Absolutely stunning and breath taking experience for family with kids. A few hours from Brasov. Bucegi mountain is very easy to climb up via La Gondola, Sinaia. My husband and I with our four kids from 4 yrs. old, 6 yrs. 12 and 13 had a very smooth ride on the cable car up to 1400.
My kids had so much fun playing on the snow during our stay in Romania because of this mountain experience. The hiking path is very easy to follow. We have the best winter memories on Bucegi mountain, love the hiking experience while the snow is falling all through the day. A must to do list specially for family.

We wondered around for 3 days, by taking the ride near the plateau and going on different trails. Considered that bears went closer to populated areas, we felt somewhat safe. Did not wonder into forrest/bush trails, kept it on open ground and having always an eye behind. Not too many people in this period, some areas we knew we were the only ones around (no cars at the end of the road in parking). At this height the weather can change in a few minutes so take the adequate gear and be prepared. Due to the current situation many of the mountain facilities (lodges/cabins) are closed, therefore no food/water available. Good stuff is that most of the places have some sort of mobile signal so if in trouble, you can call for help.

We waited so long to get on the cable car, we never did, we went by car of one of the guys down driving people on top.
Once we arrive on top, we walked and arrived at cable car to get down, we never did as there was a huge line only few people where allowed on it, it was so crowded they kept selling tickets and people waiting for 5-6hours with small children.
They don't prioritise kids or pregnant women!!!
We decided to ask for our money back for tickets and get down by bus, we never got our money back and so aggressive told that it's not their problem and we have to wait.
I'm not going to use their service every again as its so unprofessional and such a disgusting behaviour.

Beautiful mountains, great trails for walking.
Amazing area to go and relax . There's the Cantacuzino Castel wity a beautiful architecture painting and the wood work on the windows and doors. All the walls were painted by an artist but unfortunately the communists cover them up with paint.
Still you can see some of the work. Great patio outside the castel with Bucegi Mountains in front. The view is great !!!!

Although because of the snow (March) I could not go up to the high mountains for a hike from Sinaia, but a hike from Sinaia in the lower mountains was very special. I took the blue line from the center of Sinaia and after 30 minutes you really get into nature. The walk from there was up and a very nice one to do. The nature was absolutely stunning. It is a beautiful mountainous forest and animals were present if you see all the tracks. Almost at the top of this "small' mountain there is a viewpoint called Stanca Franz Josef, which gives you an amazing view of mountains and Sinaia. The walk up is about 1-1,5 hour when getting to nature. This is a perfect walk on the edge of the Bucegi mountains and good to combine with Peles and Pelisor Castles as you are almost passing them on the way up and back there.

This was easy hiking/trekking from Babele to Sfinxul din Bucegi and then via Cabana Piatra Arsă to Cota 2000 up Sinaia. Up to Bebele you can get by the cable car, taxi (taxi drivers hanging around the cable car) or walking up. Babele (meaning The old women) Nice to walk around the Sphinf interesting rock formation . It can be windy there. The tracking to Cabana Piatra on well signed trail easy peasy, mostly flat or going down. You can enjoy stunning views. The second part from Pietra Arsa to Cota 200 is still not difficult and can by easily done with average fitness level. On the way you can sight the Peles castle.

This is a destination worth visiting while you are in Romania. Sure, it might take a while to get up there, but it is worth the wait. The view is fascinating and the Sfinx and Babele are the highlights of the visit. Amazing experience, definitly recommend it.

Is it possible to walk from Moieciu de Sus (or Bran) to Busteni (or Peles) across the mountains and if so how long might this take? It would be in April.

From train station go to your left, direction Bucharest. When you get in the intersection with Penny Market, make right. Go straight for 7 -10 min until hotel Silva. And the telecabine is just after hotel. Is 80 lei for up and dawn. I think are 1.5-2 km from train station.... parking near the telecabine is 20 lei for one day.
Written October 19, 2019
Is it hard to get there by car or it’s needed to take the telecabine? Thanks
Written September 27, 2019
From Bucharest the streets are very good.... you should take the highway to Ploiesti, avoid the 50 km limit... :)

Long queues to the Busteni cable car.
We have found a lot of complains that queues to the Busteni cable car are very long.
Could you please elaborate if queues are common issue in August?
Will it help if we will come in the middle of the week (in August)?
Will we be able to approach Sphinx by automobile?
The way suggested by Google is very long around the park (2 hours).
Thank you in advance for your help,
Michael

We were there earlier in the month and waited about ten minutes on a Wednesday afternoon. It is surely worth the visit. Enjoy!

Hi, I study in zaprozhye, Ukraine. I want to visit Carpathian mountains this summer how to reach there and should I need any visa and passport for visiting and suggest any good places where I can see nice Carpathian mountains.
Written June 14, 2019
I see you love riding the bike. :)
Then come here with anything you can, plane or train then rent a bike and go visit the Transfagarasan and the Bucegi mountais. You will have a lot to see.
Regarding the passport or visa, i'm not sure what you need to travel from Ukraine to Romania.

You can rent a car or take a flight from Ukraine to Bucharest. From there the best is to rent a car , drive anywhere in the mountains and start your hiking. You will love it. The view is breathtaking. Enjoy

Hi,
I am looking for a guide or group to join to and hike from Cota 2000 Sinaia to Babele natural monument. It's only about 6 km, I am experienced hiker, but prefer do not do this route alone.
Thanks.
