Investing in the future
May 2019
Fayetteville is one of the only towns I know still investing (and investing big) in their library. Once completed it will be an amazing expansion for a very community-friendly town.

Beautiful library in downtown Fayetteville

This library has won all sorts of awards and recognition. There is a coffee shop inside so you can check out a book and have a cup of joe. The architecture alone is worthy of the visit.

An excellent library for an excellent town! Place is just great, and a huge expansion is underway that will add performing arts!

Library plus more!

Not only do they have books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, audio books, but they also have many great programs. Sign up for their monthly newsletter. Last Saturday was a fantastic presentation on Irish Step Dancing!

Great resources, great staff.

Whatever you need at a modern library, on site or online, they have it. And if you can’t find it the staff is wonderful help. One small drawback - no comfortable chairs to read in. Maybe they don’t want to encourage nesting, but I would like a better place to read for a while.

Good selection and comfortable

FPL is a great library. I have always loved spending time in the stacks perusing the titles to find the right ones. What I have been doing lately is using the electronic books and audiobooks. They are so convenient. Only downside is that there are not enough of the popular titles to get them without a month+ wait.

This library outstripped my expectations. The building is beautiful and modern. The collection diverse and large. Coffee shop in-house. Free parking in parking garage behind and attached to library. Handicap friendly. This library is a community gathering place. Perfect!

Appalling treatment of people with special needs here
Jul 2018 • Family
I am appalled by what happened to my sister with special needs at this library by the staff there. I took my sister with special needs here today with my two year old daughter. She just turned 32 but has the cognitive function of a four year old. They were both playing children’s games on the computers in the kid’s section when a woman working there approached her and asked who she was there with. I told her I was her sister and she told me the computers in the children’s section was for children only. I told her my sister has special needs and was having such a good time giggling and playing children’s games and in fact learning as she went through the simple mathematics problems. She was quiet, polite, and not bothering anyone. The woman said she would go ask her manager and returned to say that the manager said no and she must move to the adult section. I asked if the adult section would also have those games available on the computers to which she said no. I asked to speak to the manager directly and I was told she was too busy to talk. My sweet sister cried on the way home and when I came home my mother cried to hear of this interaction. This is a public institution paid for my tax payers money. My parents have lived in Fayetteville, Arkansas for over 20 years, paying taxes and working to help in the community. I have seen my sister bullied through school and treated differently because she was different but that was by other children. This was done by an adult and the courtesy of the manager speaking to me wasn’t even offered. She was not bothering anyone and what was supposed to be a fun filled trip for a person that has such limited options in life was made into a humiliating and degrading moment. I will never return to this library and urge any person with special needs to stay away as well. I would love to take this issue higher so for anyone with insights please let me know who to contact to make it known that this is highly highly unacceptable. I live with my husband in DC now and am crushed to see the local friendly small town librarian become this.

Beautiful and quaint library, the stair is beautiful, multiple places to sit and work/read, the best part is the terrace with the adult swings to enjoy a bit of sun.
