Accessing to the beginning of the loop was easy with a car and there was good parking available. Wouldn't reccomend the loop if there was rain on th day before. Part of the loop is just a normal gravel road. The start route isn't that...More

We parked our car about 4km out of Newport going toward Mulranny in a place called Derradda Community Hall (about 200m of the main road) We went on a 2 of the loop walks from here. Fantastic walks

Longest walk is a bit short (4h) but you can sense nature because it is a remote location. Walking is through boggy terrain and good equipment is must. Very nice views of Nephin beg mountains. This is worthy alternative for long Bangor trail.

To do this you need to be moderately fit, the reward for taking this walk is super views, wild country, a glimpse of beautiful Ireland.

Haven't done the actual loop, but very familiar with the area and it's just beautiful. A well kept secret!

If you have already climbed Croagh Patrick or like us you are about Westport in windy and wet weather, this is a good alternative walk. Maybe it was the rain and the wind on the day we did it, but I would consider this a...More
