We visited this place on Easter Saturday, which may be why there were so many visitors! Don't go if you don't want to climb 330 steps to get in! Some of the steps are a bit precarious and in some parts you have to walk...More

This is the largest of the monasteries and feels like a village. There are the chapels, the kitchens, several museums and an ossuary...now that was weird but cool! There is also a museum of Greek struggles during different wars that was very interesting. I will...More

We came here to watch the sunset in the evening. The building itself is a marvel and there are some amazing views looking at the monastery from nearby as well as down from the building onto the nearby landscape, other monasteries, and city of Kalambaka...More

A bit of work to get up all the stairs, especially for the one in our company walking with a cane, but it was manageable. But the view was well worth the work and the church oh so beautiful.

The Meteora site is a very dreamy place and already the etymology of the name "metéōros", in the middle of the air, prepares us for the splendor of the landscape. The erosion of the sandstone, the winds and the rains, and maybe an old river...More

It has 500 steps to get to the top. Yep, 500. But it is WORTH every step. So if your time in Meteora is limited, make sure to visit this monastery and Varlaam's (right next door). Both of them have a lot to see, including...More

This is definitely one of the highlights of a trip to Greece (and that is saying something). The scenery is mind-bending and just contemplating what it took to build something at this location--wow! I found the whole experience to be very spiritual (especially so if...More

You can get to the parking lot at the entrance to the monastery. Then...the unforgettable experience begins. Climbing, the breathtaking view and the spiritual journey!
