This is a convenient stop if you care to walk exposed to whatever the weather is. The trail is paved, just slightly hard to find where it begins. There are bathrooms here and an enormous gift shop. This would be good to get out and...More

We were told about this out of the way hidden treasure and had to go and see for ourselves. It is located by getting off Route 40 onto Route Az 87 and traveling past Homolovi State Park and continuing on this road for about 15-16...More

If you're visiting Winslow and stop out at Homolovi State Park then you need to drive the additional 13 miles north to see this little place. Drive north on highway 87 13 miles past Homolovi to mile marker 360. On the left, you will see...More

As a photographer, I find this hidden gem to be of more scenic beauty than the "actual" painted desert to the east at Petrified Forest National Park, and particularly it's a great spot to catch a sunset as the badlands, cliffs and hoodoos light up...More

BUT we could not find it, we drove 20 miles out into the desert, saw the "painted" multi colored sand, but never could find the entrance. Took many photos and enjoyed the ride.

This spot offered some amazing views of a small painted desert but the place is not kept up at all - it’s hard to find and practically abandoned. Despite this the views are stunning. I don’t know why they don’t maintain it but it’s sad...More

It appears the funding has been cut or jurisdiction for this park has changed - the restrooms appear to be permanently closed, the road as you come to the rim has large (high speed car damaging) potholes, the road side sign has been removed (gps...More

So beautiful! Breathe taking views so worth the drive over to it! It was a lot of starting and stopping but amazing! Take your camera even though it won't capture the beauty it will help you remember.

There are no gates/fencing in this area. I'm sure you could attempt to walk down but not sure how safe it would be. I wouldn't recommend. We just walked along the perimeter because we were traveling with a 18 month old. This... More
