I went up early for sunrise. It was sold & awesome. With the current lava flows & earthquakes, It may not be open. Please check their website. But you won't be disappointed. It is beautiful...

Went here hoping for a vies at dusk, but did not account for the long walk. By the time we got there it was to dark to see anything but the glow.

This was at least a once in a lifetime experience. Difficult to get into but does not disappoint. Lava fields to hike across as far as the eye can see. Once at the live lava flows, 4 miles hiking after 3 miles biking, your ready...More

I am sure it would now be closed. The rangers at the national park visitor center seem to be an excellent source of information about where to view lava safely.
