Get qualified people to work at the park, there are want to be rangers leaving notices on cars for fatuous violations that are clearly not a violation. Trails are nothing to brag about. Superstition Mountains are much better and the few minute more drive is well worth it.

I've hikes MILES here. Almost every trail-from beginners to experts, you'll find something. Start off Goldmine or on the other side at the Ranger Station; there are several loops depending on how much time you have.

As far as hiking goes, it’s probably more of a three-star location, but this is my home away from home, where I go to find myself so that’s worth an extra. There are some challenging trails, but nothing like cresting camelback mountain so you’ll want to manage your expectations. Most everyone I’ve ever crossed paths with here is super friendly. Fun place with a great story. Bring water, especially in the summer, as there is limited shade.

Trails are excellent, providing a variety of levels and distance to get out in the fresh air. Tackled in Summer best in the morning while coo, and winter at daylight. Great parking, maps, water, restrooms and the wonderful desert to enjoy.

Great close in place to view nature! I went to visit the grave markers of the original miners that were looking for gold on the mountain. Only about a total of a mile to hike to graves. Start you hike on the back entrance to the park and not from the visitors center.

These people treated me like crap. I went there last week with a couple of my friends and after our hike they bombarded us with questions and accused us of stealing when we went into the gift shop. One woman said "You better watch what you're doing, I've been around boys like you for a long time" "what?" I said confused. "Don't get smart Alec with me" so I left the store and began walking home waiting for my mom to come and pick us up. After we got about halfway down the road a car slams on it's breaks and rolls in reverse. There were probably tire marks in the road. After we saw that we began to run for our lives not knowing if it was a kidnapper. I called my mother as i was running and told her what was happening. She talked to the man and he was very rude. He accused us of yelling "obscenities" at him but didnt have an explanation for what we said. Then my mom brought up the woman accusing us of stealing and he denied it all. Later my mom called the park to talk to the woman and she and the man denied everything once again. I will not return to this place anytime soon, thanks Ranger Pete!

This park is perfect for any level of outdoor enthusiast. Gold Mine trail is my favorite because it has more elevation, but any of the trails are great. The vegetation at certain times of the year is gorgeous. Anytime the Ocatillo's and Saguaro cactus are so pretty in the park. Take the time and take a hike!

Me and my family go to this park often throughout the year and it never disappoints! There are many flatter trails that are easy for the kids while still offering many spectacular views. I also go on many of the longer/tougher hikes for workouts and for just the enjoyment of it as well.

We enjoy taking family who are visiting to San Tan Mountain Regional Park. There are varying difficulty trails that accommodate most levels of fitness. The visitor center is also very interesting. We're looking forward to cooler temperatures so we can start hiking again.

Through out the last couple years, the county has developed this park. With two entrances to the park (Thomas is the main gate, Goldmine Gulch is the back of the park), you can visit either side depending on where you live. My husband and myself love this park as part of our Saturday and Sunday excercise regime.Trails for all levels. Park Rangers have informed us that new marked trails have been planned and are ready to be signed, so we look forward to trying out the new trails

Would there be trails for us with a one year old? Possibly stroller friendly?

$7/car. This pass allows in/out access for a day.
If you plan to visit several times, you can buy a book of 5 daily passes for $25.

What is the taller Mountain to the West of the Dynamite trail that looks to be 3000+ ft in elevation? Is that part of the San Tan Mountains, and does it have trails to hike?
Written September 25, 2018
Not sure, but I would send a note to the park interpretive office and get a first-hand response.

I was wondering if the road off the highway to the parking lot is paved or gravel. If it's gravel how rough is the terrain as I'm driving a sports car.

The Hedge Hog Loop that connects San Tan is 1.0 miles. The Entire San Tan Loop is 6.4 miles. IF you start on the San Tan Trail and take the Cut Thru of the Hedge Hog Loop to San Tan and return to the Parking Lot The San Tan Part of the loop would be 3.6 miles so adding the Hedge Hog Loop of 1.0 miles, the TOTAL would be 4.6 miles. I have done this loop many times. If you want to get your heart pumping take the Hedge Hog Loop as it first comes into San Tan (off to the right) then San Tan (left turn) and as you walk up to "The Bench" at the top is a nice elevation!
