We finally hiked the Camelback. Ensure that you have plenty of water for this hike. While it is a relatively short hike, the steepness on the last 1/2 of the trail made it a great one to hike. We hiked the echo canyon trail and found that there was plenty of parking at the trail entrance. Restrooms and a water station at the trail head, as well as a park ranger to ensure that we were prepared for the challenge. Ensure that you have good hiking shoes. Great views of the area from the summit. Recommend this as an option for those seeking a challenge.

Challenging hike, even in 70 degree weather, but very doable if you pace yourself. Bring lots of water, especially if you are not used to the dry air. Most of the warning we suspect are for the late spring and summer months when it is hot. Views are amazing even half way up. We hiked on a Friday morning which was enjoyable with ample parking and uncrowded trails.

Nothing new to add here. It was an amazing experience. As other reviewers mention, it is a challenging climb. Part hike, part rock scrambling. I did Echo Canyon one day and Cholla the next. Echo is a little shorter with more steep portions. Cholla is longer, but a bit more gradual (until just before summit.) Can’t go wrong either way. Also, I did the climbs in running shoes with good tread. Wish I would’ve had legit hiking/trail footwear, as others recommend here. I’m a bit older, but still relatively fit and this was challenge. The views on the way up and from the summit are specular. Highly recommend checking it out.

Hiked to the top of Camelback from the Echo Canyon Trailhead. Awesome experience. Most difficult "hike" I've done. Actually a 1.3 mile rock scramble to the top. Very strenuous ascent and perilous descent trying to avoid any fall. 2 hours up and back. Great views throughout and spectacular at the top. Arrived just before sunrise and parking lot was already filling. Lots of people on the trail which is the only downside.

Very steep well-maintained trail. Many sections have stair-like steps and/or handrails - I really needed them. Restrooms and water fountain at parking lot. Exact address is 4925 East McDonald Drive.

Did this hike at 5am to avoid the crowds and see the sunrise. It was very challenging- wear proper shoes and bring headlamps if you are going up early. I was not expecting the amount of boulder climbing but it was an awesome experience and so glad I did it. Crazy to see people sprinting past me on the way up!

I would not do it in the summer. Trail all the way to the top, and parts can be difficult. At places it becomes narrow. Make sure you take plenty of water, even in the winter.

The hike up is very, very, very steep and there is a lot (a lot a lot!) of boulder scrambling. The pain in your quads on the way up is exceeded only by the pain in your quads on the way down. Great view up top.

Crowded but I see why. .... The views! There are only 2 trails, you park at the bottom and go up.Not an easy hike.

I saw Camelback "hike" on the bachelorette itinerary and thought oh cute, they probably found a moderate very quick hike that has great photo opps - this is going to be great.

THIS AINT NO LEISURE HIKE AND IDK WHY THEY DONT JUST CALL IT ROCK CLIMBING.

If you're short, prepare to have to lift your entire body up on a rock as your 5'5 friend ahead of you looks like they are enjoying themselves and having the time of their life. Think Parent Trap - twins are crushing it and loving life all while smiling at their future evil step mom, Meredith (me) struggling behind.

You can do it. But you can also stick by the pool and just "borrow" someone's peak for your instagram. Up to you
