- Choleng PManila, Philippines36 contributionsNot Really ImpressedWent here to watch a ballet with my daughter and my sister's family. While we enjoyed the ballet, it was annoying that even if we were seated at the orchestra's side (considered SVIP seats), latecomers were still allowed to arrive, thus distracting our attention. Also, despite seated in the SVIP one wouldn't be able to clearly watch the show especially if seated farther (like the E and F row) and the seats in front are all occupied. There were also children below 4 years old that were allowed inside so there were the occasional whimpers that also distracted the viewers.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten January 1, 2024
- Loren PManila, Philippines633 contributionsComparing The Theater at Solaire to CCP for Miss Saigon PerformanceOur recent visit to The Theater at Solaire to catch a performance of Miss Saigon left us with mixed feelings. Having been accustomed to the grandeur of CCP, we couldn't help but notice some significant differences that impacted our overall enjoyment. Although the performance itself was captivating, we sorely missed the opulence and elegance we've come to associate with CCP. The absence of features like the majestic staircase, spacious lobby, larger stage, luxurious powder rooms, premium orchestra seats, and iconic "Genesis" curtain by H.R. Ocampo at Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo created a somewhat subdued atmosphere at Solaire. Considering that my husband is only 5'7", and myself, at 5'. The limited legroom made it uncomfortable for us throughout the show. It seemed as though the theater had crammed in more seats in the orchestra section, resembling more of an economy-class setup. Additionally, the restroom facilities left much to be desired. Despite being seated near Door 4, the restroom had just two cubicles available, leading to long queues during intermission. Luckily, I managed to make it back in time for Act 2 after a quick restroom visit. The corridors leading to Doors 2 and 4 were cramped and the the relaxed seating policy during the performance contrasted with the stricter regulations at CCP. Unlike at CCP, where latecomers are not permitted to enter until the first act concludes, we observed ushers allowing movement even after the show had commenced. In conclusion, while The Theater at Solaire offers a modern and convenient venue for performances, it lacks some traditional charm and amenities found at CCP. However, despite these drawbacks, the outstanding performance of Miss Saigon made the overall experience worthwhile. Note: Despite the mentioned drawbacks, the captivating performance of Miss Saigon contributed positively to our overall experience at The Theater at Solaire.Visited March 2024Traveled with familyWritten April 1, 2024
- Mike SHong Kong, China9 contributionsGreat show, lousy Seats, Avoid Row FFFMiss Saigon, row FFF in Balcony. Great show, lousy seats, do not sit in this row. FFF is an added row in the aisle between the lower and upper balcony. As such the seats are set back to allow for the aisle in front of them and have an obstructed view of the stage. This is NOT what you expect based on the seat map.Visited April 2024Traveled with friendsWritten April 14, 2024

The lyrics were so unclear throughout Matilda. I love this musical. Was my fourth time seeing this - other times have been in Stratford when it first came out, and then twice in London - and was so so disappointing. I came with my husband hoping he would love it too, but it was totally underwhelming! Perhaps because it feels and sounds more like a cinema than a theatre? I felt as if we were straining to hear throughout. Despite a live orchestra, the music sounded much more like a recording. This was my first time at Solaire, and I definitely won’t be back. It’s not worth the money when we are lucky to go back to the UK once a year. Will catch shows in theatres on the West End instead.

The theatre is intimate with less seating capacity and more relax ambiance.
Categorically very distinct on social status by the door entrances which is organized on their part.
The design is very vertical. Small crowd but great!

I was able to watch two shows at the Solaire--Les Miserables last year (orchestra, 4th row from the stage which cost P7,000) and Wicked (middle balcony seats which cost P 3,500) last month. I must say that you get what you pay for---the seats in front were so near you could really appreciate every word and every note that comes out of the mouths of the actors). The seats were also large enough, comfortable and easy to get out of. I truly enjoyed watching Les Miserables from where I was seated.
On the other hand, the steps going down to the balcony seats for Wicked were very scary steep and the seat space and legroom for each person was really cramped--it was very hard for me to get out of middle seats without bothering everyone else in my row. My knees touched the back of the seat in front of me; I couldn't move for so long that I got leg cramps. What's more, you need binoculars to see what the actors look like (I actually brought my own). The show Wicked itself was great; it would have been perfect if not for the extreme discomfort that I felt in my cramped balcony seat.
Overall I have two ratings for the Theatre at Solaire--excellent for the orchestra seats and below average or even a failing mark for the balcony seats.

Dear rpyap,
Thank you for taking the time to give your feedback. We appreciate the positive review you gave for our Orchestra Section and we are glad you enjoyed watching Les Misérables. However, we are saddened by the discomfort you felt staying at the Balcony Section for Wicked. Nonetheless, thank you again for the feedback as it helps us identify the areas where we can improve our facilities.
Looking forward to seeing you again soon!

My wife and I have just attended the fabulous Broadway Show West Side Story at this theatre. The acoustics were brilliant, the views from the balcony were excellent , the seating very comfortable. But who ever design the place ought to be shot as there is only approx 6" between the front of my seat to the back of the seat in front. This place is designed for midgets and any person nearing 6 feet will have a very uncomfortable 2 hours. As the attach photo will show. If this was done to pack more seats in the theatre it will definitely backfire as I for one would not visit again regardless of what show was on.

Caught The Lion King two nights ago. While the show was absolutely amazing, I cannot say the same for the venue.
First off, the stage is too small. I felt that some of the actors' movements were quite constrained as a result.
They let some people in even if they were late. The usher brought in about 2 to 3 groups. This was very distracting. The usher also kept walking in front of us during the show for some reason (Door 6, May 1st show).
Balcony seats do not have enough legroom even for a short person like me (less than 5 feet - imagine that!). People need to stand to let others move into their seats - there is no way to squeeze in while the others are seated. Also, I specifically selected the front row seats as I was expecting my view to be unobstructed based on the venue photos. However, to my dismay, Solaire decided to add an extra row to further maximize their profits. Each time the person in front of me would lean forward, I would have to do the same because her head was in the way of my view. I spent half the show unable to lean into my seat which made it quite uncomfortable. I am attaching photos here to show the "new" row. It clearly shows that the owners have not listened to the feedback given by many audience members on the lack of legroom (mentioned to ushers and posted on social media). They should be decreasing rather than increasing the number of rows.
There are not enough restrooms to accommodate the audience during the break.
Elevator is too narrow. They should have considered the volume of people and foot traffic when the place was designed.
The place boasts of a state-of-the-art sound system but I did not notice anything particularly impressive.
They definitely did not have the comfort of the audience in mind.
I've never had a more horrible experience watching a musical. The venue really made a lasting negative impression on me. Based on other reviews here, even watching in the Orchestra section falls below expectations.

Ever since the theatre opened, all the touring musical productions were performing here instead of CCP. And while I praise the design, acoustics, and comfortable seats, my experience in this venue are always almost ruined because of these people who don’t know how to behave properly inside the theatre. But the most awful thing is, the staff allows them to behave at their worst. They are very relaxed in enforcing the rules of the venue. While I was watching West Side Story, I saw 2 people filming the whole “Tonight” number and not one of the staff came to stop them. While watching Les Mis, I can loudly hear some people behind my back singing along. I reported them to one of the ushers; he was obviously very clueless on what to do with them. During the performance of Wicked, someone was munching some chips. While watching Chicago, they allowed the late comers to find their seats while the cast was performing All That Jazz. And the list goes on. I really hope the touring productions return to CCP. In CCP, although the venue is outdated, the staff there is well trained in handling these unruly people.

maybe i was just unlucky to have a tall person in front of me, but it seemed like the slope of the orchestra section was not steep enough so that every row had an unobstructed view of the stage. but as i mentioned in the title, the acoustics are excellent.

Watched Singin' in the Rain (September 2014) and Chicago a few months back. We were seated at the balcony and we were quite impressed with the design of the theatre that despite being far from the stage, we still have a good view.
To those people who want to watch a musicale or a concert, there's no need to pay loads of money, you can still see what's happening in the stage even if you are seated at the balcony. Save your money to buy souvenirs instead, there are mugs, shirts, librettos etc at the entrace.

Dear WhoooopsyDaisy,
Thank you for your feedback. Our Theatre prides itself in having the best view from every seat, whether you’re in the Orchestra or Balcony section, and we are happy that it was evident during your stay. Our Theatre Boutique offers a variety of merchandise from different musicals staged and unstaged (so far) at the Theatre.
We look forward to your next visit!

We flew from Cebu to watch the Phantom of the Opera so we bought the cheapest tickets(we were in the SS row), i think it was the 3rd or 4th from the last row.The theater was huge and the balcony seats were very steep.
We sat in the middle so we had to pass by a few people, and the leg room was so small - even smaller than the economy seats of Airasia - my friend was terrified she might fall while we were getting to our seat since one woman did not even move her legs to let us pass. :(
Anyway, the stage was so far - i could only make out the opening of the actors' mouths and nothing else. There were also some parts we did not even see the actors since they were up high on the stage - it was the parts when they were going down to the Phantom's lair. I really should have brought my binoculars haha.
It was just a bit saddening that they would even sell expensive tickets when the view was disappointing.
The play was amazing though.
If you ever plan to watch anything in Solaire, just do not bother booking the last 10 rows of the balcony.

Do they sell or provide cardboard binoculars for musicals? Or does it depend on the musical showing if they'll provide binoculars or not?
Written July 28, 2019
I have not seen one in any foreign and local musical shows that i’ve watched.
Written July 29, 2019
If I watch a musical until 11pm, are there lots of taxis? Or do I just get Grab or Uber?
Written April 11, 2018
There would be taxis but the demand is strong so might as well book a ride with either Grab or Uber (if it is still operating)
Written April 12, 2018
If I plan to hold a concert there with a Fil artist, how much is the rental for the venue?
Written February 27, 2017
Best to inquire directly with Solaire (solaireresort. com).
