TALK about Beautiful Things

Located in the backstreet, one is in awe as you approach the church with the huge white statue. The service was conducted in English, and the singing was beautiful. I did feel peace whilst sitting through the service. The big church bells rang while we were waiting for our transport which was quite nice. People were seated inside and outside the church which was convenient.
It is a church, and we attended the church service, while we were visiting Manila. There is a gift shop next to the church if you wish to purchase souvenirs.

Went to visit & attend mass late Sept 2019 & it was a lovely congregation of Christians here on a Sunday. Mass was in English & it left me feeling solemn in the space. It started my journey to the Phillipines feeling blessed.

It palpitates with prayers and hope, of songs of the minstrels, chatter of the churchgoers, and footsteps of young children.
As I kneel and talk to my Lord, I am at peace.
Come for a visit, come to this pilgrimage site!

I belong to the Anglican Church but but I do attend church services too at the Shrine of Mary Help Of Christians since it is in our neighborhood. For Catholic church goers, this is one shrine to visit. They have hourly services on Sundays, anticipated mass on Saturdays. The Shrine is accessible by car via the South Expressway into Better Living Subdivision or Barangay Don Bosco.

This massive structure was elegantly constructed to minister to the Don Bosco barangay (Better Living Subdivision) and other neighborhoods. The massive ceiling fans provide much needed ventilation. The choir during the 0900 mass provided heavenly music. The soloist should be commended! The homily was well articulated and appropriate for the feast day of St. Don Bosco. Adequate parking is available and vendors abound outside for snacks as well as dry goods. This is indeed our home church away from home.

It’s peculiar that trip advisor should choose this listing by this name, although technically it’s correct as per the decree of Pope Benedict XVI on August 10th, 2012, most people regard it as the Cathedral of St Andrew Paranaque – however it does contain the Nuestra Señora del Buen Suceso, the diocesan shrine. A commemorative plaque is on the main outer wall of the cathedral.
The history of Our Lady of Good Success in Parañaque was based on the writings of Rev. Fr. Nicolás de San Pedro OSA, the vicar of St. Andrew's Parish (now the Cathedral Parish of St. Andrew).
The Augustinian fathers brought the image from Spain in 1580 as a gift from the King to Filipino converts. The Augustinians stayed in Palanyag (now Parañaque) and established St. Andrew's Parish that year. The image was left untouched and covered with dust until Catig, a poor native from Don Galo, saw this and asked the sacristan if he could take the statue home. The sacristan obliged and Catig enshrined it in his home, lighting candles in its honour.
The statue is now enthroned on the right side of the presbytery.
The church is very attractive and popular for weddings. There is an altar adorned with Augustinian saints. There are several attractive stained glass windows also.
The church design is framed by two huge massive buttresses balanced above is the bell tower with a convent adjoined.
