Its a small little museum but tells the Age old Story of how Hermanus got to be. I found it quite enlightening and its a must when you visit.

Rather liked this mish mash of items stored / put on display to see. You have to poke about a bit to see everything - something was plonked in a hole in the floor I seem to remember!

Although the information regarding whales and fish species was quite interesting, there is not a lot to see and the whole experience only lasted about 25 minutes.

My mother donated my grandfathers fishing boat to the museum. He used to be a fisherman all of his life in Gansbaai. I went there recently and it is still there and perfect! Thank you for keeping the history from the area alive.

OK if you want to quick visit to the old harbour and some brief history but this place is tiny and not much to see. We were not disappointed but did not expect much and the cost was minimal and included the whale museum.

This small museum is situated very close to the old harbour, in what may have been boathouses. The displays look as if they haven't been touched since they were installed, and once you have seen the fishing accountrements of last century, and gawped at the...More

Very small with bulk of the "interactive" section of the display not working. Includes empty aquariums and a sound room that is out of order. Spend about 10 minutes here.

A small, but interesting museum situated at the Old Harbour. Entrance also includes entry to the nearby Whale House which has interesting exhibitions about whales, as well as a photographic museum.

There are 3 Museums at this spot all linked with one entrance fee (R20 for all 3)) - the Old Harbour museum is down the walkway in front of the Naval Guns - and consists of 2 sheds with memorabilia from the days when this...More
