We visited this museum at the beginning of our Africa trip, and I’m so glad we did, because it really helped understand better everything else that we saw around us throughout our trip. GETTING THERE - we took the Gautrain from near our hotel to...More

We toured this with our guide, Robin Binckes with Wil-ro . As he had grown up in South Africa, he was able to help us understand not only what apartheid was like but also why it came to be. From him we learned about the...More

Interesting, interactive, and very informative. I recommend staying 3-4 hours. Our time was rushed by our guide (independent tour guide, not the museum guide) and I really wished we could have stayed longer.

I knew of what happened but now I understand more of what happened. This place is a fascinating and thought provoking place to visit and a must see in my opinion.

Friends and I visited the Apartheid Museum. The building is stunning. It’s a must visit if your traveling through South Africa. It’s very well displayed and easy access for any age group. Great for locals and foreign tourists.

This historical museum allows you to see what happened when and where in south african history. Very educational and informative. Not really a place for kids as it has too much information.

You need a few hours to do this properly - we only had about 2 hours - it was not near enough! There is so much to read and see and learn, there are videos and many of the exhibit pieces require reading as well....More

There’s a nice idea at the start with an example of segregation which I feel they could do more with. Lots of information throughout to read and a number of videos from the time and more recent interviews. If you want to read and watch...More

Unbelievable experience. You need to give yourself at least 3 prefrably 4 hours. I spent too much time on the period from 1900 - 1960s. Had to rush a bit through the rest of the exhibit . It's hard to take it all in and...More

There is a ton of information and you will need some time to make it through. The content is great. This is a must-do if you visit Johannesburg.
