    Used to be great
We have visited this site several times & like everything else in the world Covid changed things. First off the price increased, $115 US ( 2 adults) for the bus ride to the viewing points. There used to be 3 stops, they have cut it down to two stops & you drive yourself to the third stop. So more money for less. We don’t even bother with the skywalk now, I don’t want their photos I want to take my own. There are not enough busses for the amount of people waiting. The gift shops also don’t sell the same items, so if you see something you like at the skywalk shop best get it as it is likely not at the main terminal shop. It used to be one our favourite drives when doing a Vegas trip but I would say this was our last trip out there.

Nice day trip from Las Vegas
The West Rim is closest to Las Vegas but we have also traveled to the south Rim and thought it was a better experience. As for the west rim we got the combination entrance fee (Entrance fee, Skywalker, meal). The meal was about the same price if you pre-paid or got it once inside. The Skywalker, the clear see through walkway which goes over a portion of the canyon was really cool. It was about an hour wait and you can not take your own pictures, they have photographs along the walkway but equally as good was Guano point. Which is an old mining site but offers great views of the canyon. If you can climb to the top of the rock formation and get some really good views. You will need around 4 hours here and the best restaurant is at Skywalker. It is a sit down inside restaurant with good views.

    Worth it to us
Glad to read all the reviews and went in well informed and prepared. Almost didn’t go but glad we did. We visited late October 2023 midweek. Remember: this is Native American owned, not US park service! An hour off US93 like NPS site is an hour north of I40. Saw glamming and RV site on the way in. Yes, you pay around $40 (ask for small senior discount). About the same as Hoover Dam tour. Add for the skywalk. Could omit. True-the skywalk might be underwhelming but not much more $$ for one time splurge. We were ready for the lines (moved reasonably quickly) & had lots to learn from exhibits along the way. Different vistas than NPS GC. Shuttle to skywalk (no rushing) and guano point (guano was fabulous views and easy walking or scrambling). If you’d like a different canyon experience or a second half day, it might be worth it for you too.

There are so many issues I had with this experience. First, the drive out is off the main highway about an hour, you have to go through this sketchy town, cows are roaming free, seen 3 or 4 dead that had been hit by a car. That alone would ruin your vehicle. Second, the tickets are $52 a person just to get in!!! Not even including the “skywalk”. Not enough shuttles for the people, when you go into gift shop, no one greets you, you can stand at ticket counter and it’s like you’re not even there. Would never recommend and will tell everyone I know coming out here for vacation save your time and money!

The tickets were close to $170 for me and my wife. You then get to the back of this line that is outside many times right in direct sunlight and heat. We did go in a month that is not that hot but it was still brutal. No sign through out the line saying you are 3 hours ( normal wait time) , 2 hours , 1 hour away from the skywalk. When we finally get to the front of the line I see they have it rope off. The photography vendors dictate the amount of people on the sky walk! I saw it when you had a group of four they would just take those 4, if you were 2 they would just let in 2. It also depends on how many photographer they had that day. Once you left the skywalk they try to sell you very expensive photographs. If they had a staff member at the beginning of the roped area asking if they wanted pictures it would not be 3 hour wait but probably a 30 min to 1 hour wait. On the way out I asked for a manger they said I needed to speak with a Judy. She made believe she was not in the office. If you are going with a elderly person or a person in bad health beware.

Although we had looked at taking a guided tour we decided we would rent a car and explore ourselves. At least half the overall price. In saying that, prep for a long drive with snacks. We went to the West side as it was the closest time wise. First of all pictures never really give the canyon justice. It is breathtaking. When you get your ticket for entry they will bus you out to the first point to view. This area is a very touristy area. I think because of the walk about (you can’t bring cameras on) and the fact it is the closest to get to. After the visit here the bus comes every 20 min and they take you to the next viewing area. (I liked this one better) There are no railings when you walk out here so if you are afraid of heights be prepared. Im not necessarily afraid of heights but I am accident prone and was terrified of tripping and falling so I struggled with the overall safety precautions of just the signs saying not to go close to edge and then the signs on the other side of watch for falling rocks. Finally with a quick stop at the Hoover dam, overall it is worth spending your day doing the drive.

Scenery was good. I felt taken advantage of - price was way too expensive, and then they would not even let me take a camera on the sky bridge to take photos. They force you in to buy photos from them if you want one, even after paying and exorbitant entrance fee. Then when we got back on the bus they forced you to go through the gift shop in an effort to get you to spend even more. I will never go back and will discourage anyone else from going.

The line to get on the skywalk was long and moved slowly. We purchased tickets for it but ended up not going because we didn’t want to wait so long to get on. Guano Point was awesome! It was beautiful to walk up the ant hills for the spectacular view.

Beautiful but very poor value for money and terrible organisation. Prepare to wait for hours for everything. The whole thing is a glorified shuttle bus but the don’t put on anywhere near enough for the number of visitors. Also, do not pay for meal ticket, the waitresses ignore you as there is no chance for a tip.

The whole trip was a wait for late attendants, then rush to attraction. Stand in lines for an overbooked and poor planned money grabbing attraction. The lunch which was included in ticket price, turned out to be a 90 minute line wait to be told they were out of the barbecue and multiple drink options. Had to eat said lunch while standing in line to get on next bus back to the main bus that originally brought us. The line waits made the third part of package impossible to attain and upset everyone involved. Will not recommend this trip to anyone!!! You are only a number and cash in a broken attraction!!!
