This is a free exhibit. Unfortunately, at the time of our visit all the buildings were closed to the public and we later learned that due to the time of year, the properties were only open at weekends with guides. We were able to wander round the grounds and were surprised to see dozens of peacocks roaming around the grounds.

We took two great strolls through this park while we were visiting the Glendale community college. The old farmhouse was interesting to see, and I enjoyed doing some birdwatching. I expect at certain times of the year, the rose gardens are quite nice. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to visit this park, but do recommend it if you are in the area.

This park has many buildings that used to be a ranch in the early 1900s. There is no admission, parking is free & it is open during daylight hours. All of the buildings have detailed descriptions of what they were used for. There are also several pieces of old farm equipment scattered about the park. Besides having the buildings & machinery, there are gardens, picnic areas, & other things you would normally find in a city park. This is a nice place to visit.

We drove about an hour from Mesa to Glendale to visit the Sahuaro Ranch Park. This is a free attraction to walk around the grounds and free parking was provided too. We entered through the orchard area and saw the old buildings remaining on the farm and animal paddocks and old farm equipment. They were not open mid-week when we visited, but tours are available at the weekends. A large mural wall depicts the peacocks and further down next to the library is an area where they roamed freely, about 8-10 of them. Very nice to see the palm trees and green area. The rose garden was very attractive. If you love pigeons this is the place to come, they are roosting on most of the roofs and we also saw chickens. #lets_travel_about

This was for free. We walked and red how they do this.
We learned a lot like this.
This is historic.
It ia is all abou tAgriculture.
All the houses are from this family. We could take pictures.
There were many palm trees.
They even showed how they work.
The early years of Sahuaro did fruits and nuts.

We came for the botanical gardens surrounding the library, but then stumbled upon Sahuaro Park next store. As a visitor from the cold northeast, it was so cool to see all the grapefruit and orange trees. I didn't see any rabbits, but I saw the peacocks and cats. Lovely palm trees and plenty of potential Kodak moments.

What a brilliant idea Glendale......turning a former ranch, owned and run by William Bartlett, into a park, incorporating the historical aspects of the ranch as well as providing modern aspects of a park such as picnicing and playing sport. The park is located next door to the town library. There is plenty of free parking and you are able to wander around freely even in the historical area. On the ranch site, there are many buildings to see (although you have to be on a tour to see inside), such as the ranch house, the barn, the foreman's house etc. There is a beautiful rose garden and a small vineyard is still evident. Old ranch farming machinery is on display and your walk around is enhanced by a whole host of stunning peacocks strutting around.
Great place to come.

Ok, it was 109 degrees, but my first visit to this historic site was difficult as I didn’t know what to do.

The park is broad and offers a variety of activities and different atmospheres. One area is the orchard and gardens. Next to it are the historical buildings with markers. You can also stroll the rose gardens, play ball or have a picnic. It's a large park with room for all. Permanent residents include a feral cat colony, abandoned bunnies, and a flock of peacocks ranging from the library next door.

Yes the park has a dog lease free running area & many people walk their dogs along the walkways with their leash. Enjoy the area & quiet surroundings, other the wild calls of the peacocks.

It has been a short while since I have been there, but never thought to pick the fruit. The park has several park rangers and you can ask them.
