We spent a couple hours on the Mt. Dewey trial and it was worth every minute of our time. We had a spectacular view of the inlet and Wrangell. The trail was maintained well, too.

This trail is a boardwalk hike up many steps, easily accessed from town. I'd call it somewhere between easy and moderate, just because of the elevation change, but we didn't find it difficult at all. The trail can be slippery when it's wet out, so...More

This was a nice hike, but it was on wooden steps and boards from bottom to top. Very unusual, but you are so focused on not making a misstep that you miss out on viewing the scenery. I think I would have preferred following a...More

Mt Dewey is an easy hike and if the weather is good, there are nice views from the top. But the better hike is Rainbow Falls Trail 5 miles from town. Our Alaska Vistas Tour guide had her employee drive us to the trail head...More

The Mt. Dewey trail is a pretty fast hike that takes you through temperate rain forest to an overlook platform view of Wrangell and the straights. The trail can be accessed from the public library via a set of stairs at the end of McKinnon...More

Nice quick hike up the hill above Wrangell with a good view of the bay. Very nice to have the boardwalk and stairs to keep it from being muddy and eroded.

We had a very pleasant hike/walk up Mount Dewey. The day was sunny and dry. The trail is easy to walk as it's basically boardwalk, platforms and stairs. It probably took less than 30 minutes to get to the top. We also walked up to...More

We're seniors and we didn't have a problem with the boardwalk. My knees were sore, but that's usual. The walk itself was so beautiful that we stopped to take pictures along the way. The view from the top was awesome.

It's all stairs and wooden walkways. This protects the environment which is appreciated. Nice view of Wrangell and beautiful forest along the way.

The trail is a good hike. Most of the trail is on a well constructed boardwalk. When you get to the top, the view is of Wrangell and the surrounding waters. Well worth the trek.
