Really enjoy to visit matanuska glacial. Pay $30 in the entrance. Just drive slow when you go there, is a mountain with a loose gravel can hit you car. But as soon you get there is a really nice experience

We pulled into the Matanuska Glacier State Recreation Site at mile marker 101. It's about an hour's drive from Palmer where we were staying. The drive itself is quite beautiful and the view of the Glacier is awesome. Though the Glacier is in the distance,...More

This is a fee area if you want to spend more than 30 minutes here. This is a great view of the glacier and the surrounding mountain range. There is camping available.

It was expensive but quite an adventure to drive out to the glacier and cross a rickety bridge and then ask on the glacier! So fun day trip!

This is a recreational area, meaning a parking lot and trail heads maybe. If you keep driving up the highway about a quarter of a mile, you'll reach the glaciers viewing area where you can actually walk out to the glacier.

I've seen a lot of natural beauty in my time, but few compare to the vistas I experienced on the Glenn Highway, leading to the glacier and its beautiful, folded valleys. There are lots of turnouts for picture taking opportunities. I don't know if I...More
