Aigantighe Art Gallery is the home of art in South Canterbury. Established in 1956, its name is Scottish Gaelic for 'at home' and is pronounced 'egg and tie'. The gallery is open Tuesday to Friday 10am-4pm, weekends 12-4pm. The sculpture garden is always open. Entry is free.

Staff were very helpful. Display lovely, and great to see these talented artists work. Easy access. Looked only fleetingly at the sculpture garden.

WOW! There is an incredible exhibition of modern maori/nz art that is a must see for lovers of nz ecology, bird, forests, and maori art! Go see it you will be blown away totally!!!

Only a small part open due to possible earthquake checking which was a disappointment. Enjoyed what I did see though .

Great for school holiday visits. Plenty of activities for all ages. Changing art exhibitions featuring local, New Zealand and overseas artists. Gallery supports local artists. Helpful staff and volunteers.

we went to the Aigantighe Art Gallery with high hopes, but only a small part was accessible, which was disappointing. The part in the old historic house (where we especially wanted to go), was not accessible due to concern after earthquake testing.

The house and garden are lovely.The sculptures in the garden left me cold but some of the paintings inside the house were truly great

Beautiful gardens for kids to run around. Awsome staff. Very friendly and helpful. The kids I look after love visiting the art gallery. Awsome atmosphere Love checking out all the new displays. Kids love the school holiday programmes

Went to see a photographic exhibit, which was extremely interesting. Photographs were made by various applications, which added to the attraction.
