We love visiting the gardens regularly all year round. Special areas are well signed, there is a lots of variety in plantings. The conservatory, fernery and the duck ponds are our favorite.

Some interesting collections of plants, some nice plant specimens, but having visited other Botanic Gardens around NZ and overseas, Timaru Botanic gardens feels like it’s not really valued and instead gets the type and level of care normally given to a grass sports ground or...More

A quiet walk through the fernery was followed by a stroll through the rose garden and then down to the lake. Such a lovely oasis in Timaru which we thoroughly enjoyed. Not to be missed.

Sunday picnic, ample space to explore. Laze under a tree plenty to pick from. Lovely lake. Peaceful listening to birds. Secret paths to explore. Must do in Timaru.

The main highlight of the gardens is the extensive number of trees. There are some garden beds but the ones we saw looked a bit bedraggled. As were the hothouses. There are some good swings and a slide for the kids and lots of grassed...More

We enjoyed strolling through this park and gardens. Aviary was excellent. It is an area that Timaru can be proud of and appears the local council is doing a fantasic job.
