This is my second time to conquer the Fanxipang summit this time I went with my friends and we really enjoyed when our our feet on the peak feeling wonderful and happy . It is very cleaner and safer than the last time I was here with many convenient services on the way going up. You could go by electric train from the cable car station up to the top too which help kids and elderly going up easily. I will come back here with our family for sure .

A must to visit the roof of Indochina. Went midweek so no queues.
Incredible views. The sun shone and we were speechless.

This gargantuan attraction in Sapa is an absolute must-see man-made wonder. It offers jaw-dropping views at it's peak of 3,143m. This was our 2nd visit in 5 years, 1st visit was in April 2018.

To reach the summit, it is recommended to firstly take the cable car ride which offers breathtaking views of Muong Hoa Valley and mesmerising peaks on a clear day. The ride itself was comfortable.

The second part of the journey comprises 2 options: either to walk up challenging walking stairs or to embark on a 2nd ride via climbing trains or trams which bring you to near the peak. From here, it is another short walk up a flight of stairs to reach the top.

The summit offers paranomic views of the surrounding. Either marvel at it's beauty or simply close your eyes, keep still, count your blessings and give thanks. On the way to the summit, visitors can soak in the beauty of the neaby gardens, pagodas, temples and buddha statues.

Highly recommended must-see attraction if you are visiting Sapa. Don't miss it!

We went on a Wednesday lunchtime- no queues, only 3 people in the cable car. So if you want to avoid crowds don’t go at the weekend.
There were some Asian tour groups at the top taking ages over photos but this is Asia. We enjoyed it.
There are 600 steps at the top but there are temples and things to break them up, or you can take the funicular .

Hi, just leaving our own experience as it may be useful for others. We did some reading about the hike and since we are quite experienced hikers we wanted to do it without a guide. We entered the entrance and tried to negotiate a little however they were pretty strict. We decided to go off-tour to enter the trail but the staff were following us on bike! Since we did not have time doing the trail next day we decided to go back to the main entrance. We ended up joining a vitnamese tourist with a guide and we had to pay anyway. We lost them in about ten minutes as they were very slow, therefore did the trail on our own there and back in nearly six hours. Its easy to follow (we had offline map just to ne sure), also all the animals seems to be off the trail as there is quite of a traffic. I understand its their job and law but the money is innadequate for the service. We ended up getting some money back as we did not receive the service. Its definitely worth doing, if you insist on going by yourself start off trail from the beginning and do not even show at the entrance but you risk to get a fine of 5mil. (you can always say your guide is behing but they communicate pretty well among each other).

What an experience, the cable car is quite amazing and well worth the side trip from Hanoi. Worth going to the summit of Fansipan and seeing the temples.

After reading that the hike was not worth it due to the end being accessible by cable car (this feeling demoralised upon finishing), we decided to take the cable car like everyone else to the summit.
Crowds and crowds of people swamped together in a huge queue, where you are then all on the cable car together like sardines. Many people just sat on social media, FaceTime and making phone calls, completely ruining the experience.
When you get to the top, it’s been completely ruined by SunWorld (same as other areas in Vietnam) and there is nothing authentic left whatsoever.
After paying for a return journey (800,000 VND each) we were so frustrated and gutted with what Fansipan has become, and we wish we had never paid so much money.
Do yourself a favour, and rent a scooter and drive around Sapa instead of coming to this tourist trap.

My wife and myself are currently holidaying in Sapa and earlier today we visited Fansipan Mountain - the highest peak on the IndoChina Peninsula.

Getting there and back was very straightforward on the excellent Cable Car service - built by an Austrian Company in 2018. Once there the various attractions - and there are many - are well signposted but we headed straight for the 3,143 metre summit itself which does involve some steep stairs but helped by taking the vehicular service part of the way.

Certainly worth the effort as the Summit offers panoramic views - significantly enhanced by the sun deciding to make an appearance. So much so that I decided to take the 600 step walk back to the Cable Car Station passing both the impressive Buddha and Pagoda’s en route as well as the Nine Level Waterfall Stairway!

All in all, a most enjoyable visit - certainly something I would encourage other visitors to Sapa to seriously consider!

The view is nice but get ready to wait 45 mins to get in a cable car and to fight an army of people on the top !!!

If you are not catching the train to the top then be ready to climb some stairs!

Decided on a 2D1N hike up fansipan to beat the crowd to the summit and catch the sunrise. Well worth the effort, although the going can get hard at times. Total climb time for someone with average fitness is under 6 hours.

Would recommend a local guide over a tour group as they can work around your itinerary with greater flexibility. Our guide Minh was a great cook, and doubled up as a porter at times. Highly recommend. (+84868139467)
