This trip was the highlight of my year. They were spectacular; the guides and the staff were beyond friendly and knowledgeable, and we felt safe and well cared-for every minute of the trip. We chose a helicopter ride in May, which was before the busy season, and it allowed the bears to come so close and we really enjoyed the scenery and the wildlife. The photos I got were spectacular, and the bears were stunning, including the mama bears and their cubs.
The helicopter safari really lets you get to places in Lake Clark you would never be able to reach otherwise, and for a while we sat on a rock outcrop surrounded by mountains and bears, and it felt like we were the only people in the universe. It was beyond description: sublime.
We will definitely come back, and I have raved about this trip every day for the last 6 months.

One of the best things we did on our Alaska trip! Fun to ride in the cockpit of the float plane - Kirsten was a great guide and knew a ton about alaska and the surrounding areas! Absolute highlight of our trip

Kirsten and Eric where amazing! She helped me plan a special end of the season float plane day trip into Katmai to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday! Not only where they exceptional pilots and guides- they where simply great people. We really enjoyed spending the day with them! We saw SO many bears- up close and personal! They where on the beach, in the trail, in the water, in the falls, just EVERYWHERE! It was an amazing and unique experience that I highly recommend to anyone!! The path to the falls was more like a road plus a short well maintained trail and could be easily accessible to most folks. Even if you never left the viewing platform at Brooks Camp- the trip would be well worth it! Back to the birthday- she made it so special! She had birthday banners, desserts, and a sparkling toast! We can’t wait for our next adventure with them!

My husband and I flew to Katmai National Park. Kristen and Eric were great! And so friendly! We had a great experience. Saw so many bears, and around 5 cubs! We plan on going back to katmai at a different time of year and also lake Clark and plan to go with Ultimate Alaska Safaris!

My wife and I had the best time traveling to Katmai to view bears! Kristen and Eric were very professional and kind, even when “bear jams” made us late returning to the plane. Kristen walked with us as an expert guide, and Eric was a great pilot. We will be using them when re return!

If you want a truly exciting adventure Alaska Ultimate Safaris is highly recommended. Eric and Kerstin were absolutely the best. They made the whole trip exciting with their narrative along the way and experience.

Can someone please tell me how in the world you get ahold of this company!??!! SOOO frustrated. Have tried calling and leaving messages, booking online ("no online availability" for any dates in 2020?!) and have sent several emails... these attempts were spread out over the entire month of January 2020. I am trying to ask 2 minor questions (to help decide between two of their trips) and then book the tour.. same call. I am not a tire kicker with a million questions... I WANT to go on their tour. All these great reviews and what must be a wonderful tour seem completely contrary to their business practices. Any suggestions??

We do have our Ultimate Safari that will take you via helicopter across Cook Inlet to Lake Clark National Oark to experience the Coastal Brown Bears in their Natural habitat.
We then fly over and explore Mt Augustine an active volcano, hiking up and getting to see the different levels of volcanic activity. We will have lunch on the Island.
We finish up the day trekking on the Harding Ice Field, it’s an amazing end to the day looking down all the crevasses and bring on top of all that magnificent ice!!
We do see glaciers on the flight over to see the bears, but only land on the Ultimate Safari!

We will be driving from Anchorage to Homer on Sept 29 and plan on staying 2 nights. Then drive to Seward for a night and then back to Anchorage for a night then catch a flight back to Sacramento on Oct 3. We can add a day if neccessary. Are we allowing enough time to take your tour? Do you still run 2 tours a day at that time of year? I have been told that the bears are in hibernation by then. (?) Will we still see them? We will be celebrating my husbands 71st birthday and I think this safari would be the perfect gift. Thank you

September is a great time to visit Alaska. Alaska Ultimate Safaris is down to one trip a day to see the Bears toward the end of September. It is toward the end of the season, but the bears aren't hibernating quite yet.
That sounds like an awesome way to celebrate a birthday!!

Hi,
My son and I are arriving to Homer on Aug 30th around noon. We are considering your tour though we understand that our only chance is the afternoon tour (as the day after we need to leave Homer early)
My questions:
1. When is the afternoon tour back in Homer?
2. If the tour is cancelled because of the wheat her, will we get a refund? How likely is cancellation? (I.e. How many do u have each season?)
Thanks!
Alon

Alon,
August is a great time to visit Alaska.
Our afternoon tour gets back to Homer around 8:30pm.
We offer a full refund if we cancel due to weather. It is unlikely, but has happened. We haven't canceled any bear tours this year for weather yet.
