Lots of photos and videos of early skiers plus the power of avalanches are shown. Pricey gift shop. Great 2D relief map of the mountain.

There are some interesting displays here. I liked reading about how Alyeska became a ski resort. Also seeing the original skis and uniforms was cool because of how far we have come. The gift shop has a good selection too.

If you are taking the tram up, spend a few extra minutes to go through this museum. The views are great and they have some interesting exhibits. There is some unique shopping here as well.

Walk along the outdoor deck to get into the cozy, 360 degree roundhouse shop. It IS primarily a gift shop, but has some solid displays of items used in the area for various winter sports. I enjoyed the history of the place and the photos...More

$29 tram ride up to Seven Glaciers Restaurant, a buffet/cafe, and the Roundhouse which is a museum and gift shop. The view is spectacular (weather permitting). Since Girdwood is in a rain forest (over 80" precipitation/yr) you may not get such a great view. Viewing...More

Beautiful artwork and jewelry, snow gloves based upon historical gloves. A nod to native art, but very acceptable for people not familiar with native art styles. Decent section for kids (although I did not shop this section) but looked like quality products.

I am terrified of heights and almost chose not to go, so glad I decided to make the trip up the mountain. The gondola ride to the top wasn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be and the view from the top was...More

There were lots of history books of the area for sale and even items kids would like. In the middle of the store was a 3-D relief map showing the different locations of the mountains, glaciers and where you are now.

I was there in May. At that time, it closed at 5pm. Perhaps it extends the hours in the summer. Enjoy your trip!
