Black Rock beach is historically and culturally important to the people of Rarotonga. Facing north-west, and receiving all day sun, the lagoon area is a popular aqua-playground. The prominent black rocks serve as diving platforms into the rock pools below. Black Rock is also the home of Rarotonga's only golf course, as well as the tennis centre and beach volleyball courts.

Some pretty fish but mainly go to climb and look over the lava rocks. see photos attached. Enjoyed this beach and some snorkeling a short walk away from the main rock.

One of our favourite snorkelling spots on our trip. Lots of fish to see close to shore. Good spot to take kids as well i'd say.

Lovely place to lie back and soak up the sun reading a book and when you feel the need just jump up and into the lagoon. Snorkelling around you will discover lots of sea life.

This is a beautiful place to visit. The locals hang out here talking, relaxing, and impressing their friends by jumping off the rocks into a beautiful pool. You can hang out too.

I have snorkeled at Black Rock on two different occasions, or at least I attempted to without much luck. It is a gorgeous sandy beach with amazing turquoise water and stunning scenery. If you go, you’ll most likely have the beach to yourself. Just in...More

SO worth the stop. Great snorkelling and swimming - we went both at night and during the day and had a great time. You can sunbathe on the rocks when you take a break from snorkelling... saw lots of blue starfish here!

Vacationing in Nikao and we went to Black Rock during high tide and low tide where we could jump off the low, med, or the high rocks. This is great for an all day event pack, so pack a picnic, mozi repellent, sun block towels...More

This is a very popular beach with locals, and always has caught my eye on our circle island drives. Stopped in at high tide to give it a go. Very rocky entry with lots of smashed coral. Water very shallow, coral very dead, not many...More

I love Black Rock and spend several days there during every vacation. The location of this huge Black Rock offers a great day for everyone. Right at the side of the road with an established pathway down to the beach, it is accessible to everyone....More

This is the kind of place where you come and get away from it all, there are no major chains, outlets, none, just simple restaurants that serve simple local food and hotels and AirBNBs again which are all independent. It is... More
