Was here as part of an overall tour. Interesting history lesson on Polynesia. The guide is what makes the tour and their knowledge/presentation of how it was in ancient Polynesia.. Disappointed we did not get inside the replica structure though.

Definitely worth stopping by if you are doing a round-the-island ride or going somewhere. Wouldn't necessarily go exclusively just to see them.

One of the best restored locations in all of french Polynesia and if you enjoy this type of history you shouldn't miss it. Well worth the excursion to see.

This was a tour stop for us, although I have seen many maraes in FP, on several islands now. This is unquestionably the most stunning on Huahine, on the North end of the island with the Maeva, which is really fascinating (we spent over an...More

There are displays outside and inside. They are written in English, French and Tahitian. I enjoyed the toys made out of coconut shells and the drill made out of a coconut shell. The people who work there will answer your questions. If nothing else, seeing...More

Huahine is rich in archaeological sites, and this is one of the more impressive ones. In order to fully appreciate, and even fully access, these sites, it's probably best to hire a guide expressly for that purpose. Otherwise, this is a good place to start,...More

Nothing here to tell you about the stones, so you need to have someone knowledgeable in the site. It is amazing how big and straight these rocks stand today!
