Very well preserved ruins and lovely grounds and gardens. Well worth the visit. The following is a partial excerpt copied word for word from a sign near the ruins. At this same site called Ujarras, between 1561 and 1569, a thatched chapel was built which...More

Not a lot to see at this site, and the signage is minimal to help the visitor understand the history and significance. No charge. Attached to a local playground and park. Restrooms on site. It is worth 15-30 minutes if you are in the area...More

Costa Rica doesn’t have a rich architectural history. We saw some in San Jose but in the area of Cartago, there’s not much except for the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels, Cartago. So this ruin is a nice change of scenery and the...More

We‘ve never expected this beautiful place in such a small but lovely village. The ruin was maintained extremely well with detailed explanation in multi languages.

My second visit in a few years, and was pleased to see how beautifully maintained the entire park continues! Nice clean and spaciously placed picnic tables among lovely old trees on manicured grounds. Relax and enjoy. The entire staff takes obvious pride in their work,...More

The site comprises a ruined church built around 1693 which was abandoned after flooding in 1833. It is surrounded by lovely gardens and trees which are very well cared for. There are some brief explanations of its history in Spanish and English. Quite a lot...More

A Little nice park .- The ruins of its colonial church are located 1 kilometer from the northwest shore of Lake Cachi. This ancient construction of "calicanto" (masonry of lime and stone) is all that remains of the first calicanto church built in Costa Rica...More

A lovely stop when discovering the Orosi valley, the ruins are one of the few remnants of the Spanish presence in Costa Rica. Restful, green, some amazing trees, happy families & a trickling stream- what more could you want on a lazy Sunday afternoon?!

We went here to visit this nice historic church ruine. One of the very few in Costa Rica. It is a very nice park close to San Jose (one hour Car trip). This is a good place for a family picnic and take good pictures.
