The building has original architecture. And that is all. Empty rooms. Few pieces of gold and lots of empty space or rubbish. Do not waste your time and money!!!

It has been so carefully thought out and designed, with such beautiful exhibits, that it is well worth a visit. It really is a lovely little museum. Best to buy a ticket for the three main museums.

The museum shows the history of Central American civilization before the arrival of the Europeans. It has a section of Numismatics that tells the History of the currency of Costa Rica. The museum features many pieces of gold from the region's ancient natives.

There are some amazing gold artifacts and a history of local money, however, to get the real value from a visit I strongly recommend going with a guide that can explain the full history and significance of the displays.
