An incredible night walk in Corcovado with Tracie and Gianfranco
We booked a night walk with Tracie and Gianfranco on the recommendation of Hellen, our host at the Greenleaf Hotel in Drake Bay, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. We are both life scientists and University Academics from Germany and regularly go on biodiversity-type tours since many years. This was our best tour EVER. We loved their functional biology. Where others enumerate species, they deliver context, ecology, and adaptation, while being abreast with the latest literature. Thanks for a great night-out! Pity they don’t offer more tours. We hope to be back one day and tour with Tracie and Gianfranco again!

Be in Shape & Go in June
I did the two day and one night trek - perfect amount of time to see animals, get your hike fix satisfied, and swim in a waterfall. We had a group of four and the entire lodge to ourselves - I highly recommend “rainy” season if you don’t like crowds. It only rained the first hour of the trip and the last hour of the trip - amazing time in June! (I only recommend a day trip for people over 50, for those who don’t go to the gym or on hikes regularly, and for those who can’t handle heat/humidity. It gets very hot, steep, muddy, and dangerous even for those who are younger, experienced, and in great shape.

    Worth the trip
My wife and two teenagers visited the park. The guide was from Lapa Rios, Frank. He did a great job and they really enjoyed their visit. Saw many, many animals. The boat ride was fun as well. They saw turtles and dolphins. Highly recommend if you have the time.

    The main attraction!
Once you have made it to Bahia Drake a trip to Corcovado National Park is a must. There are a great many tour operators that will take you the one hour boat trip from Drake to the national park and then provide you with a guided tour of the park. We used Pacheco Tours and were more than satisfied with our hugely experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, Eric. However, I would also like to mention Top Trails Corcovado, an outfit that looked very professional.

We stayed 1 night/2 days at Sirena Station. The wildlife was very good and our guide, Max, did a great job.
Unfortunately, I have to give Osa Great Adventure a bad review. The only consistent factors were confusion, excuses, mansplaining, and gaslighting. We would have been denied lunch at Sirena if not for Max. 2 of our other excursions with Osa Great Adventure were missing lunch.

a few much-travelled paths into the park.... Close to $100 US per person total costs including guide. .lunch included too. . . We did see a few sloths, Kuwati.. iguanas.. a Tapir!, some spider n howler monkeys and birds,. one small wild pig. But the number of birds was very low.. got to see a 6 to 7 foot snake - rare sighting (black back with yellow stripes on belly) in a tree.. and nesting hummingbird.. Not a bad trip.. but wouldnt do it again.. unless you are really into wildlife/birds. Just not worth the trip all the way from San Jose..(which you can do in a short flight on Sansa Air,). but did a few nights at Manuel Antonio area before heading down (4 hours drive from there) . This place was much better than Manuel Antonio. Stayed at Botanika resort. nice place! 1 Hour boat ride to/from Puerto Jimenez to park entrance. If you go there just for the park there's not much else to do in the area unless you're into fishing (expensive too! ) I would wear closed toes sneakers. and hats n sunscreen. BUT wear some flip flops or water shoes for getting on/off boats!! =no ramps at park! There were barely ANY insects though, just a few butterflies (there has been a massive decline - close to 80% of all biomass worldwide of all insects in last 30 years.>>something to read up on.. ).

This is a large park, but the access and trails are very limited to along the coast line (so most of the park is off limits). I can appreciate it might be a really bio-rich park, but if you can only experience a small part of it, it kind of defeats the purpose. It is so remote that I do not really feel going for a visit is worth the effort to be frank (and I am a birder). We saw and experienced better birding (with a guide) along the roads between the Park and Puerto Jimenez. The park itself was rather quiet and unremarkable. But, it is always nice to be in nature without any development and very few others (at least for our week-day visit in January). it is HOT and sweaty. You decide!

You have got to have a guide with you. We ran into a South African who got lost and luckily found us to traverse this rainforest and Pacific coast.

LITERALLY THE COOLEST NATURE HIKE! I’m here with a group of friends exploring Costa Rica and doing a Corcovado tour has been the highlight of our trip. Our guide, Pablo made it an exemplary experience because of how well he took care of us. He’s very informative and skilled at finding the animals! We were able to see everything we came to see. 10/10 recommend this tour with Pablo, he made it an experience to remember!

Totally worth it if you love adventures and animals ;)

Took a day tour to Corcovado NP from the Wilderness Resort in Drake bay, viewing the coast on the boat trip there was lovely. The trails in the park were easier than I expected ( I'm a reasonably mobile 66 year old), wildlife viewing there is fantastic, we saw a female Tapir on the beach that lead us to a male, all 4 Monkey species, Sloths, a very rare Tayre, Lizards, Agutis, Toucans, various Raptors & jungle Birds, many insects, a Boa and a Bird Snake, only creature we missed was a Tamandua. The break at the park shop for refreshments was very welcome as it was a very humid day but we were lucky it didn't rain
