About
Visit the tarantulas way with me together at night to explore the rain forest from Cahuita. Bird-eating spiders, frogs, bats and many insects with warranty. Listen the night sounds of nature on a leisurely stroll through a Zoo without fences. This is certainly an exciting and enjoyable experience for your vacation.

Therapy against fears
Nov 2021 • Friends
I super scared from snakes and spiders and didnt really want to participate, but we met some girls who said the same. They participated and told me how much it helped on the fears from these animals. After doing this trip I also became much more calm that these creaters have bigger fear from us than we have. Recommended anyone who needs a little therapy to handle fear against snakes and spiders.:)
Chris is super funny and pay extra attention on everyone. You will be completely safe with him!:)

Thrilling
Aug 2021 • Couples
Chris was an amazing tour guide. My wife is terrified of spiders and bugs, but Chris helped her gain confidence and made the whole experience exciting and educational. We have spent our remanding nights in Costa Rica taking the flashlights out and using the techniques Chris taught us to find all sorts of wonderful critters. If you book this tour you will not be disappointed. Happy hunting,
Chase

Amazing your
Jun 2021
Went with our 5 months baby (sleeping in a carrier) and a 6 years old. Chris was very accommodating to all of our family needs. It was an amazing tour on a private path, probably the best hiking tour we took in Costa Rica. Chris is a true naturalist and he deeply cares about what he does. Highly recommended for nature lovers but not for the faint of heart ;) my 6 years old had a blast!

very good nightwalk
May 2021
I m a nature enthousiast and already familiar with many species (of my country), although, it is to be expected that I m no expert in Costa Rican fauna. Luckily Chris is.

What's more, is that I could tell he really strived for us to spot as many animals possible and we did saw a good variety and I had the chance to take some decent photos.

Since most of the nightwalk is conducted in a road adjustent to the Cahuita NP, you are almost guaranteed to see many animals. After few minutes into the walk, it became obvious to me why he named it 'Tarantula's Way' - there are dozens of nests of the infamous arachnid. Since this is an animal extremely sensitive to vibrations, you ll need to be really light-footed and with a bit of luck you can get a closer look. The whole atmosphere is great and this is something that everyone should have a go at; not just naturallists! Just remember to wear proper shoes, as it tends to get quite muddy. I would also recommend long sleeves+trousers, although on the night I went there, we didn't have a mosquito problem

I m very happy I did the nightwalk with Chris and next time I ll visit Cahuita, I ll ask for his help again, for spotting a Bothrops asper, which has long been on my list now

Tarantulas Way night tour is Amazing!!
Mar 2020 • Couples
The “Tarantulas Way” nighttime jungle tour was nothing short of amazing. Chris was passionate, knowledgeable, funny, courageous and at at the same time, safety conscious. Felt like we saw a different nocturnal species every 5 meters. Do yourself a favor if your traveling the Caribbean side of Costa Rica (and if you dare, haha) Go on this tour.....What a cool experience!!!!

Not to be missed!

So glad we did this tour! Christian is a funny man with a passion for his jungle and the creatures within. You will definately see many very large spiders but also so many other interesting things. Christians tour takes place on private property at the very edge of Cahuita park, giving him and edge on other tours. His marked spider holes and familiarty with thd area is great. Highly recommend this extremely knowledgeable guide!

Awesome night hike
Feb 2020 • Family
Our family of 8 went on a night hike with Chris. We had a great time and saw and learned so much. About 5 minutes into the hike our 20 year old son said "this guy is legit". Chris' love for snakes and spiders and critters makes his tour so good. We all felt safe and would say that if you want a night hike, don't miss the Tarantulas Way.

Best Guided tour in CR!
Nov 2019
I am a professional outdoor educator and naturalist. However, I always hire a local guide because, while I can find a lot of the animals, I have to look and that takes time. A local knows where they are and I can see more. Even with this introduction, the Tarantula Way stood out as the best in CR and one of the best we have ever done.

Thirty seconds into the hike, Chris was already showing us things. It never stopped. We saw and touched so many plants, invertebrates and reptiles on this trip. I lost count at over 30 species. I recommend doing this tour first, because Chris can also recommend things to do and things to avoid, which varies seasonally.

Some logistical items to consider, while not a strenuous hike in terms of elevation change, you are on very rocky ground, and watching out for venomous snakes. Take more water than you think you will need, because it is cool at night, but very, very humid. Chris is easy to reach through Facebook. This is well worth it, if you are having any concerns at all.

Excellent Night tour to see the creatures of the night
Dec 2019 • Solo
Chris is an excellent tour guide! Very friendly and knowledgeable. Makes sure that everyone gets a chance to take a photo of everything.
Easy hike through the woods to see tarantulas up close, we also saw a Cayman, a bunch of snakes, millipedes, other types of spiders (Chris's ability to spot them is amazing), and more!
Short stop about halfway for a beer or lemonade at his mom's house.
Speaks fluent English, German, and Spanish.
Be sure to give this tour a go!
