I bet this was beyond heaven 10 years ago. I can't lie, my friend and I had a blast here. Despite this, I get a feeling that it is burgeoning on a Jaco esque mass tourism polava. I'm not a fan of aggressive beach touting,...More

The nice thing about Samara is that it hasn't sold out to the masses like Tamarin-*cough*-do-*cough*. Nor is it seedy like Jaco. The waves are gentle enough for surfing and swimming. The hermit crabs come out in the evenings and are fun to watch scuttle...More

I love this town! I love this beach! Great bars and restaurants on the beach. Ocean is perfect. Amazing sunsets. Dog friendly! Flea markets, surf lessons, surfboard and wetsuit rentals. Super soft sand between the toes feeling :)

Sand as far as you can see. Nobody bothering you or trying to sell you things whilst you’re relaxing on the beach. Water is warm and sea is good for water sports or just a swim

Samara is an awesome little treasure not overtaken by tourists or shops. The beach is great and the people are genuine. We drove to Tamarindo and Arenal from Samara as well. Fewer services in Samara but guess what? That's exactly what we wanted. I can...More

It's beautiful here. This is such a great beach town. It's not overrun with tourists or big resorts and everyone knows everyone. We stayed for 5 nights and could have stay longer. The waves are big enough to be fun but small enough to be...More

This beach is a gem and unaffected by big business. There is not a single luxury hotel or chain restaurant anywhere near Samara. If you are looking for a real Costa Rican beach experience go to Samara. Horses still roam the beach and the wide...More

It isn't really a party town. More family oriented with primarily restaurants, not pubs so much.

We used Samara Adventure Co for a dolphin/snorkelling tour. It was excellent. The Samara Info Center has many more activities to do in and around Samara. Enjoy!
