We were visiting Mobile for the first time while attending a convention. Before going we had looked at things to do in Mobile and noted the high reviews the Crescent Theater had. On the first day we were there, during some free time, we went walking around the downtown area. We encountered the Crescent Theater and noticed it was showing a movie we wanted to see. Not having the time to see it then, we returned to our hotel.
Later in the week we had an afternoon free and made a beeline to the theater. While we were expecting a quaint theater, we had not expected the delightful owner who sold us the tickets and then chatted with us for quite a while. He alone was worth the price of admission. Needless to say we also enjoyed the show
I expect to be back in Mobile in June 2023 and will definitely go see whatever is showing. I only regret that there is not an equivalent place near my home

Always great! Always a newly released movie. And the thing I love most about the Crescent is the small warm feeling of being with a small group of movie-goers with similar interests. Can enjoy a glass of wine or beer with popcorn. I don’t want to see a movie anywhere else!

We had an incredible experience today with Max at his fantastic vintage movie theater, a gem on the famous Dauphin Street in Mobile. This place is a must see for everybody! Max has incredible knowledge of all movies, American and Foreign films, and is such an inspiring source for all cinephiles. Don’t miss watching a movie in this unforgettable atmosphere!!!

Lovely old downtown theater, originally built in 1885 as a vaudeville theater. There are 90 seats. If you get there early, you may get one of the 10 leather recliners in front. The show starts on time. A few ad slides show before the film starts. A wonderful experience! Films include the latest releases, local talent, obscure films, etc. Several yeas ago, went with an exchange student from Finland to see Rare Exports, a Finnish film about Christmas, with English subtitles. Sweet memory!

Like everyone else has mentioned, this place is so quaint with it’s old time charm (and blue ceilings). Fantastic design and A GREAT VIEWING spot. I took in my first movie in years a few months ago when they showed the classic anime “Swept Away” - so I took my wife and made a night of it. They have a lot of interesting titles from the past and I will be going again soon.

I do not come here nearly as much as I should. This is a great theater in a great location. Plenty to do before and after the show. Smaller theater so I would recommend buying tickets on line but quaint in its size and less idiots talking during the show. 😄

Relax in this small theater with some comfy reclining seats (get there early for these.)
Enjoy wine, beer or soft drinks in this lovely venue and be transported back in time.

My husband and I visited the Crescent Theatre for the first time in Mobile. We purchased our tickets online before the showing, making the process a breeze. Make sure to get there early to snag a super comfy recliner at the bottom row to really up your experience!
