We had never been to Alabama so when we read about the family-oriented Mardi Gras celebrations in Mobile, we decided to go during that time. So glad we did. It is a party for Mobile and is much more accessible and intimate than New Orleans. There are aspects to it that are unique to Mobile too. So, Ann Pond (Mardi Gras Trails) not only helped us navigate through the many parades, but also showed us old Mobile and shared its history. She is passionate about history. So, for a greater appreciation of Mobile, do spend a few hours with Ann. It will enrich your time in Mobile.

Mobile Mardi Gras is a family oriented even that culminates with the Fat Tuesday celebrations. This is where Mardi Gras all started!

Fun parade! We expected to be gone when it began, but our cruise was delayed. Lots of beads, music, and laughter.

The floats were beautiful as always. Was so shocked over the chairs along the parade route with caution tape around them to block spots from other people being able to enjoy the parade route. There not even sitting in them not old or disabled just greedy and inconsiderate of other viewers. My father is turning over in his grave. What once one a people oriented experience is now a memory. .caution tape give me a break. And the city allows this. I should be able to park my car there what’s the difference. Happy Mardi Gras mobile !!!

Mobile has several parks and attractions within walking or short driving distance. Look for outdoor markers that detail some of its past or boast of its Mardi Gras history and other historical facts.
